I had created my own custom fields in functions.php - but this makes my life so much easier when creating a site I know a client will be using. I can't imagine ever building a WP site without it.
Nice looking plugin, but a big shame that the fields aren't repeatable without paying for another extension.
Went with the Custom Field Suite plugin, they do provide that for free.
This is a suggestion more than a review but cant get place to write.
Wouldn't it be great if we can add field groups to certain category of certain ost type.
Like : If i have a post type product with category book, cds etc
For book : new field author
For cds : new field link
and i could show the new field author to only book category of product
and i could show the new field only to the cds category of product post type.
so that the fields would not be useless to one category.
Anyways great plugin. Also i recently find out the category meta fields too - like adding images for category, colorpicker for category also not only works for default post types, works great with custom post types and cpt categories.
If not I had to use multiple plugins just to use image in cateogry, colorpicker in category and hassle with the tension of whether it may work or not with custom post types. Thanks for this awesome plugin.
Thanks to create it, i'll take the pro version to help you to maintain it !
This has added so much extra functionality to my themes. Now I'm able to use the conditional statements to create several custom sections to a page. The only issue I have is with the WYSIWIG editor, as it doesn't appear for me. And from what I can tell on the forums, this is a common problem. Still worth it, and hoping to find a solution soon.
Great plugin! The Pro version is well worth it.
I had a very strange bug that took me weeks to figure out! A very strange one in deed!
After I made the update to the 4.2.2, the Visual editor wasn't working any longer. The page for writing a new entry was being loaded with the Visual editor but the it would force to HTML editor on the end of the page load.
I tried everything and in the end, when all hope was gone, all the evidence pointed out to that the problem was the Visual Composer plugin. The only thing was, that the Visual Composer (4.5) was building the whole website, so I could not deactivate it! Besides, everything was working just fine! It just seemed that I would have to start everything all over from the 0 when I suddenly, almost by accident, stumble across this: http://support.advancedcustomfields.com/forums/topic/visual-composer-plugin-conflict/
So, the bug is fixed if one upgrades to the paid version. If not, we just have to live with a website with bugs? That doesn't seem to be good marketing at all! Already uninstalled ACF and an upgrade to the paid version is not even on the map. Bye bye!
Hasta momento el mejor plugin! Felicitaciones por el projecto! =D
I use this on every WordPress site, its invaluable, the missing link!
I am using it for both posts and categories (taxonomies/categories). Great plugin.
