AddThis provides the best sharing, social, recommended content, and conversion tools to help you make your website smarter.
This login force is annoying.
You dont have right to force me login somewhere this is open source platform give us FREEDOM !!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am a long-time user of AddThis. It is very convenient, and it is a feature-rich toolset (more so than anything else), but as the 3 out of 5 star average rating shows, the developers need to work out the bugs.
It prevents me from going into the theme customizer (I use the Vantage theme). Updating it triggered an internal server error.
doesnt have shortcode. Cant be used in templates manually
1 - Works very badly on editor theme; ex: social networks header only display correctly in main domain, not most pages across it (posts, manually created pages, etc...)
2 - Changes to the widgets on dashboard may not work on your site; ex: once I added the share buttons above a post, I could not remove them at all.
I've been a long time user of AddThis and I absolutely adore their service. But, I can't support this plugin. It is wrong in almost every way imaginable.
I have no objection to the company wanting to stress their Pro-Tools, but there are many, many more ways to implement that than this terrible abortion of a plugin.
I will be staying with the older gens of AddThis until the company realizes the mistake they are making and return to what made them great.
I upgraded this morning and it has broken several pages across my site including the travel blog and gallery homepages, pages which it should really not affect at all. Can't downgrade, which is extremely frustrating. Plus, forcing people to configure the plugin on their external site isn't really convenient. Am now looking at an alternative.
*Edit* Some kind soul linked to the old version which has set everything back to normal.
I notice many are saying similar, and also suggesting to hold onto your older version. If you are not lucky enough to have the older version, you can get it here... https://github.com/wp-plugins/addthis/tree/3.5.10 by clicking the 'Download ZIP' button on the right :)
I have installed AddThis on my website and it works fine, however, when I go to my blog page, only one post shows. Turns out that AddThis hinders other posts from showing up.
My overall rating:
Functionality - ★★★★
Integration - ★
Usability - ★★★
Total - ★★★
Whoever invented the smart way of "connecting" things in the version 4 of your plugin - it is a big joke.
Activation - if works - requires many gimmicks. After that buttons still do not show. Old configuration is lost. If you are running on a pre 4.x version - KEEP IT - because that is the last one that works...
When I went to this add-on instead of Smart Layers, the sidebar appears ONLY on the home page - in my Addthis.com Dashboard I selected the sidebar to NOT show on the home page. Recommended posts don't appear at all.
Addthis Smart Layers add-on seems to work ok with my WP TwentyEleven-child theme (but not on mobile devices where I'm using WP TwentyTwelve theme via the Any Mobile Theme Switcher add-on) on our new aha.zone blog - which is on a standard Apache server (inMotion hosting) with latest versions of PHP and mySQL and WP 4.0. I suspect an add-on clash as the Smart Layers works perfectly on my old blog (powerstates.com).
So, for both blog sites I've gone back to using Addthis Smart Layers instead - at least it works - mostly.
I absolutely LOVE Addthis - giving my readers far more options for sharing and staying on our blog - while looking absolutely amazing - for free! I'd just like it to work consistently on all platforms.
I'll check back when maybe Addthis has fixed this add-on.
