"Add From Server" is a quick plugin which allows you to import media & files into the WordPress uploads manager from the Webservers file
If you are moving a WordPress site via the WordPress Export/Import tool and transferring upload folders & file via ftp, you will find that your media library will be empty. This tool allows you to easily populate the media library without moving any files.
My only reason for not giving 5 stars was that each file had to be manually selected, so if you have a lot of files it can take a long time, but still quicker than any other way. It would be nice if you could select all but leave out any resized images such as with suffix -100x100.png or -100x100.jpg for example.
This plugin provides a functionality that is solely missing from WP. It is simple enough and works as advertised! I find the UI somewhat less appealing than it could be, but it is wholeheartedly recommended!
Super plug-in unique in its activity! It solves a real problem which lacks very much in WordPress - the publication of large files.
I really hope that the author will support it!
An excellent plugin but as previous commenter mentioned it's incompatible with latest version of PHP (5.4), I would love to see a fix for this, though still I think warrants at least 4 stars.
When adding many files it sometimes hangs and doesn't complete. I think the code could be re-worked to avoid potential issues with script time-outs.
Thank though none the less, it has proved to be invaluable transferring galleries from an old site into a new one.
Great little plugin, saved me alot of time when I had to upload a ton of mp3's.
Once issue now though is, I installed it, activated and used the plugin but not my post editor is not working, as in can't type in the editor field at all and even when I try to create a new page, I can type in the page title field but the editor won't let me type anything in there at all.
I have de-activated the plugin and uninstalled it, but still no joy.
I'm using WordPress3.5.
