 * I also had a problem with upgrading from 2.8-DE to 2.8.1-DE.
    This has worked
   for me: Inserting `define('WP_TEMP_DIR', ini_get('upload_tmp_dir'));` in the 
   wp-config.php
 * After that my upgrade has worked.
