 * I don’t know if this helps understanding the problem, but I just realised something.
   If one navigates to the individual post vas “Recent Posts”, one sees the reply
   box. However, the Twenty Seventeen theme that I am using has a “Posts Page” that
   you get to via clicking on “Our Blog” in the main menu. If one does that, the
   post that you see has no “Reply Box”.
 * I never noticed this before and am not sure if it is even a desirable characteristic.

 * Thanks for looking and letting me know. I did nothing and I actually am not very
   knowledgeable of website engineering. So you assumption is probably correct.
 * One thing I did try was to erase my default blog page, create another page and
   assign that new page to be the default. The setting was under Settings-> Reading.
   It didn’t make any difference immediately, though. Might there have been a lag?
