   much! I eventually found exactly what I needed on the Basic template. There was
   a single_cat_title there, which I wanted, but the offending “&laquo” and “&raquo”
   needed to be removed, plus the word category.
    How strange that a page labelled
   archive would affect a new post!

 * I haven’t been able to track down the right area yet but I’ll keep looking. And
   I posted on the support forum for the people who made the basic template.

   me an idea of where to look!
 * If anyone happens to know where it is for the Twenty Sixteen theme, I might just
   switch to that and use it.
 * EDIT: Actually I’ve got to correct myself, that’s not customisable enough for
   me, I’ll stick with the Basic theme and see if I can find the right code to tweak.
