 * Unfortunately, this doesn’t make a difference. Download still hangs on popup 
   with “Please wait…”

 * Update: actually, the new lines to .htaccess did cause a 500 Internal Server 
   Error on the front end.

 * Thank you. Your suggested lines have been added to .htaccess and do not cause
   a 500 error. However, trying to download backup files under BackWPup > Backups
   still has popup with Please wait… and nothing further happens.
 * Not long ago, downloading worked as it should. The host support confirmed again
   there are no errors on their end. Further help would be awesome. Thanks!

 * Yes, the issue just started a day or two before the BackWPup version 3.6.10 release
   and installation on the site.
    A recent server-side change I’m aware of is increasing
   the memory_limit. Adding the suggested lines to root .htaccess caused a 500 Internal
   Server Error. Any additional assistance is greatly appreciated.
