 * This did not resolve the issue unfortunately. Any way I can downgrade my wordpress
   to the previous version?

 * I am having the same problem. Since the upgrade when you click on a thumbnail
   it just shows the bigger picture in a new page. I then have to click the back
   button to view the gallery again. Before when I clicked the thumbnails it used
   to pop open a gallery to view.
