 * Anders, thank you but all is now resolved.
    The problem was that my media library
   folder was pointing to the wrong place.

 * The images are there though. They display on the right hand side.
    I’ve uploaded
   with smaller dimensions than recommended and much smaller than max size. They
   are being uploaded from the Desktop, so no folder permission issues. Can I send
   screenshots?

 * Yes. I’ve loaded them by drag and drop,and by searching.
    The images appear as
   blank thumbnails. The details appear on the right hand side if I click Edit Image.
   If I then click Select and Crop there’s nothing there.
