I had something strange happen with another theme, so I think it’s a bug in the new WordPress ‘customize’ thing. I haven’t gotten to that part of the site yet. 😉 Right now I’m just fiddling with how to make a date show up that is always 3 days from whatever the current date is… but I know that’s not theme related. * thanks so much for your quick responses!
