 * I’m spitballing here. But there could be a chance resetting the permalinks over-
wrote the entries for BuddyPress in the .htacess file. Wondering if simply re-
saving your BuddyPress settings would write them back in.

 * Wonder if it could have left some database stragglers from the improper plugin
delete. Does it make a difference to switch themes? Also try running “WP Optimize”

And clean up the DB. Sometimes even reinstalling the core files from your update-
core.php page will fix goofy problems like that. Just be sure you back things
   up first.

 * Looks like a redirect loop. What happens when you activate a different theme?

 * You’ll change the folder name on the server. Do you have FTP access?

 * There are many different ways an attacker can access your server besides FTP.
In fact, if they tapped into the server, chances are they used SSH, which is
like the Chuck Norris of connection protocols. It can do things that FTP can
only dream of. So you can change that FTP password all stinking day but it won’t
make a difference. I would ask your host to get all new name servers, and install
a fresh copy of WP on your new hosting account – restoring only the database
itself and wp-content directory – and see if it continues.

 * Rename your plugins folder to “plugins.hold” then try logging in. See if that
works. Then rename your plugins folder back to “plugins” and refresh your admin
page. If it goes white again, you need to go back and disable each plugin folder
one by one by adding “.hold” (or whatever) to the ends of each plugin folder.
Do that until you find the culprit. 9 times out of 10 this is what I have found
   the problem to be.

 * Unless you’re already a coder and know what you’re doing, customizing individual
pages can be a nightmare. I would recommend Headway Themes for customizing individual
pages. It’s all drag and drop and you can make every single page totally custom.

 * There are a lot of things that can cause a loop. More often than not I’ll solve
loop problems by uploading / overwriting core WP files. Could also try updating/
reinstalling from the updates page in wp-admin (I’m assuming the loop does not
affect the admin area). Of course, try disabling all plugins as well. I had about
5 of my websites do this to me a couple weeks ago after being migrated to a new
server and was able to fix every single on of them by doing these things. If
you want I would be happy to look at it for you if you aren’t able to get it
   working. Just let me know.

 * Forgot to add – I recently moved from WPEngine over to SiteGround, and so far
they’re my all-time favorite hosting company. They also have a malicious code
scanning tool that checks your site weekly for injections.

 * If someone gains root access to your server, they can do anything they want.
Whatever you can do… they can do more. They’d have access to your site and everyone
else’s on the server – including databases. They could literally wipe the entire
server clean with a single command. Sounds like these guys are just in it to
piggyback off websites for the sake of injecting ads though. Not entirely malicious–
just annoying. Still, if you’re storing sensitive client data in your database,
I’d be for backing that site up and moving to a better host. Either SiteGround
   or WPEngine.

 * Ouch! Sounds like they may have back-door access directly through the server.
If someone gets in with a brute force attack or something, there’s really nothing
you can do unless you have direct access to the server and an insane amount of
server administration experience. If you’re on a shared hosting plan, really
your best bet is to contact the host and/or change servers and cross your fingers
they care enough to do something.
 * I could be completely wrong, but if you’ve updated everything, reinstalled everything,
and have taken extra precautions by installing added security plugins and such,
then yeah… it may have nothing to do with your WordPress installation at all.
There’s absolutely nothing you can do from wp-admin to solve a server intrusion.
 * Where are you hosting?

 * Thought I would chime in. I was having the same error while trying to create
a backup on a local dev environment. I had a hunch to try installing “WP Optimize”(
   [http://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-optimize/](http://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-optimize/))
to clean up my database. After doing that my backups ran just fine. Flawless
   victory!

 * Awesome!
 * Any ETA on that? Working on a site now for a client of mine and would like to
use this plugin. Just need to get this fixed (and also hopefully improve the
SEO URLs a bit if possible).
 * Thank you.
