Thank you for your quick reply. Strato.nl is my host and i can switch the php there to the current 8.x version. However what effect does that have on my wordpress? I dont like to make the problem bigger.

Can I just change the Php version there? or do i need to change it into my wordpress too?

I dont know where I can find error log and will call the host tomorrow to find out.

Ok getting back at you guys after working on my blog again. where I am at now:
I have updated the PHP and all plugins.

I have been trying to change things in my theme but now I have an issue with the wp d- tree categories on the left sidebar. I had moved all my widgets to the right sidebar in an attempt to play around with my theme. But somehow this resulted in leaving part of the wp-d tree widget behind in the left sidebar. I finally got rid of that and then an open spot for a widget was left behind. (it’s still there in my left sidebar) However, I have put everything back the way it was trying to fix it. But the empty place in the left sidebar is still appearing on my site. In my widget appearance editor, the wp-d tree appears twice now. This solved my problem with the broken widget wp-d tree on the left but the empty spot is still there and I have no clue how to solve this and if this even makes sense to you guys.

For now, IM leaving the RSS feed for what is cause honestly I have no idea how to access the htaccess file

I opened my theme editor and the warning that popped up I took to heart. but I did check through it and it looks like its full of errors. there’s a bunch of red x and yellow exclamation points on the left sideline in the css editor. I’m not sure what all that means. At the bottom it reads: There are 394 errors which must be fixed before you can update this file. O.o so where do I start with that?

I’m guessing its been done manually ugh.

IM starting to get a little discouraged now cause I simply can’t afford to break my blog. It’s just that important to me personally.

I guess I messed up my feed burner now too oh well. Ill check back in later.

I HONESTLY AM PRETTY SURE THAT Jnadhhawkins is right my old domain used to be whiperedwords.net instead of whisperedwords.nl so just changing that address will fix this I just have no idea where to change this.

I remember changing back and forth my theme would cause a load of issues to arise a few years ago and I’m not up for that challenge right now.

OK I have updraftplus running and ran a successful backup I have uninstalled backwpup

I like to leave my theme as is now n just see if I can fix the missing images rly since I don’t want to make new design now.

Now, how/where do I fix my RSS feed address?

Thnx Bryle, The installation was successful and apparently, I also have successfully made a backup.

I have manually successfully made the first backup to my dropbox (that’s what the plugin showed and the backup files are in my dropbox as well.) However at the bottom of my plugin page from updraft ist sais: “existing backups :0” that confuses me. Can you explain why it sais that?

I am assuming I can now uninstall backup from my wb? I don’t see the use to keep two backup plugins running to my dropbox seeing that backwpup didn’t work anymore anyway.

OK, so I decided to try out Updraftplus for my backups.

Do I uninstall my BackWpup first before I install Updraftplus? and can this cause any serious problems in my page to the point I lose my posts?

I’m going to follow a tutorial I found on installing it. https://themeisle.com/blog/backup-a-wordpress-site-for-free/

    sounds good?

Thank you very much for your reply those step by step answers are very helpful. I’ll go to the first one

It’s BackWPup it back up to my dropbox but the email after the backup always arrives with an error log since a long time.

Do I copy-paste the backup log here that I get in my email? I’m not sure what confident information that has.

    ————————-

Yes that’s why I mentioned the backups first WordPress itself Is up to date but apparently, some plugins are not. akismet needs updated

    ———————————-
The name of the theme, it’s my own theme it was built for me by my ex-husband I don’t know if he based it on an existing theme but he programmed my blog originally and named the theme after me. with my self made graphics. The headers for the posts are not having the image I have on the other/smaller menu headers. MY background used to sit still I believe as my blog scrolled over it.

    ——

I’m using Strato.nl and at the time my friend advised me but I don’t remember what exactly I have in the package and if it needs to be updated because all that stuff is abracdabra to me when I log in to my host. The host is very reliable, affordable and has not failed me once in two years
    ——————–

Feedburner stopped working after my blog moved to the new host tho So I am really thinking its a linking issue somewhere. But I don’t know how or where to fix it
    ———————–

contact form and registration issues are old issues that never got fixed after it first stopped working a long time ago. there are also some issues with my picture pages where the folders show like thee no pics but there are after you click on the initial folders

    —————-

I’ll worry about the plugins later it seems most still work. like you said, back up is most important. I don’t know if dropbox is the best place for backups or if there’s a better free place for my backups.
    ——————————

I want to remove some pages from my blog that I really don’t use anymore but I don’t know how I can do this safely.
