In reply to: Theme’s Sidebar Not Writeable in WP 2.1Edit it in a vanilla text editor (NOT word or wordpad or anything from MS!), and upload the edited version to your site.

In reply to: Backup Plugin — no longer included?Hopefully not, since implementation of it meant leaving a hole you could drive a mack truck through on both your install and your host-server….

In reply to: Adhesive plug-in unavailableAs an aside/FYI: link to the thread in which I explain how to do a “sticky post” without a plugin:

In reply to: adding auto-installer to older wordpress installations? That’s a fantastico thing, not a wordpress thing.

In reply to: Adhesive plug-in unavailableA simple search for “download Adhesive plugin” turns up a bunch of topics, among which near the top is this one:

There’s a couple of links in there to get the plugin.
Oh. Another search of posts herein over the last couple of months will also turn up the information that adhesive doesn’t play nice with anything past about version 2.0.4.

In reply to: wysiwyg editor in 2.1There were some threads around a couple days ago about this sort of thing; might do a search….

In reply to: Do Multiple Authors crash servers?Your host just got a whole bunch more money out of you (for that dedicated server) by lying to you. Go find a better host asap….

In reply to: 2.1 flooded with spamY’know, there’s really no reason not to upload it (even thought the “instructions” say not to) – it only overwrites identical file names, so it would overwrite for instance /themes/default/ and /plugins/hello.php, but not your special themes (one caveat: that’s what happens on MY server – YMMV).

In reply to: Will 2.1 support lower mysql database?Doubtful.

In reply to: Problem with wp-content/themes/Well, it doesn’t have to be “one that comes in the download”. If everything else is there, all you need to do is create a /wp-content/themes/ folder. You can put the default theme in it, and/or the classic theme, but those aren’t strictly necessary either.
Of course, the above statement applies ONLY to the 1.5+ and 2.0+ branches, NOT to the 2.1 branch in any way shape or form….

In reply to: No more “next page”*snicker* Heh. Whatever, I’m still setting up a distro archive. Who knows how long that will last? Hrmph….

In reply to: No more “next page”And gotcha. Sending right now. I don’t have a zip for 2.0.6; if tarball doesn’t work for you with whatever you use for uncompressing, go here: http://www.7-zip.org/ , download 7zip. It opens EVERYTHING…. and it’s free….
And I swear, I’m setting up a site for wp old distro downloads, as soon as my host and I get the latest contretemps settled (a DDOS against someone else on the same shared-server space *sigh* – you do NOT want to know what I wish on them…. eye for an eye? Doesn’t even BEGIN to get close….) – there’s no excuse for not making it easy for people to find what they need.
Sheesh.

In reply to: No more “next page”Er. Yah…. have to agree with that one! I’m checking email right now….

In reply to: No more “next page”I have 2.0.7 both zip and tarball. Mail me at vkaryl_at_wildblue*dot*net (yeah, that’s not the normal one…. don’t ask….) tonight and I’ll send it out asap.
I also have 2.0.6 I can send as well.
Yes, I think no one can any more plan a “closed” blog stay that way without help. Too bad, too; but at least there IS help – using the available crop of spam plugins.
