Today I tried ot update 2 sites from WordPress 5.9 to 5.9.1 and again had the same problem.
First the update won’t go through, and if you try to run it again it will say another updat is in progress, but it’s not. You’d have to manually delete the core_updater.lock from the options table in the database in order to retry.
I believe the problem is caused by the plugin “classic widgets” that somehow is blocking WordPress update. If you disable it and try to update WordPress, it will go through. I manage many sites and it only happened to sites that have “classic widgets” plugin.
By the way, I had no problems updating plugins, it was only WP itself that wouldn’t update.
    Hope this helps someone else.

Hi, I have the same issue. I can’t update WordPress from 5.8.3 to 5.9 via Dashboard.
The URL in the browser shows:
    domain.com/wp-admin/update-core.php?action-do-core-upgrade
    The screen says:
    Downloading update from https://donwloads.wordpress.org/release/es_ES/wordpress-5.9.zip…

Username (not posting the actual username)
    Edit Profile
    Log Out

    Update WordPress
    Downloading update from https://donwloads.wordpress.org/release/es_ES/wordpress-5.9.zip…`

I deleted the core_updater.lock from the options table in the database and attempted to reinstall through the Dashboard but same thing happens.
I updated WordPress 5.9 via FTP successfully.

    Thank you so much!!!!!!
With this new option now a user on desktop can be redirected to WhatsApp Web, just as it should be. I’d make this the default behaviour, but as long as there’s an option for it, I’m fine!
    5 stars very well deserved!!
    Thank you!!

Of course! I already rated it a well deserved 5 stars!

Hi Marko, thanks so much for your fast response.
Unfortunately adding /maintenance/ to the page cache exception list doesn’t work, because it’s not really a page, but a WordPress built in mode.
Is there any way to make W3TC honor the 503 status sent by the header of the maintenance mode, and NOT cache the homepage?

Also, I want to mention that same behaviour happens if I put the site in maintenance mode using a plugin that calls the /wp-content/maintenance.php. The plugin is very well known (Coming Soon Page, Under Construction & Maintenance Mode by SeedProd). I want to stress the fact that maintenance.php is a built in feature of WordPress, I’ve just customized the appearance of the resulting homepage, as the WP Codex indicates we can do.

Thanks for your time, I hope we can solve this.

WordPress will also change the image filename upon upload if it ends with a numeric value such as 40×50 or so. Even if the filename has never been used before at all, WordPress will add a “-1” at the end. This is driving me crazy.
Example: “bag-40×50.jpg” , will get named “bag-40×50-1.jpg”. So frustrating! Please fix it!!

    Hi kelly,

    Thanks for your response.
    Yes I have.
I actually excluded ALL files (CSS, JS and PHP) from page cache and minify, but it is still being chached.

    wp-content\plugins\wp-whatsapp\assets\css\style.css

Ok thank you so much for your response.
I’ll check again in a few days, the new version doesn’t seem available yet.

Hi I have the same issue. It doesn’t work on mobile if I enable the WhatsApp Web, that’s where it will send the clicks. I think the problem is that plugin doesn’t’ relay on screen size to determine if the device is a PC or a cellphone. I think the screen size would be a better approach than Javascript. I’m uninstalling but I’ll keep an eye on your plugin cause the interface is nice and clean.
Despite the errors, thank you for your contribution to WP.

Hi, I want to also report that the user back-end language is not honored by W3TC. The back-end language will be whatever the site front-end is set to. Please consider reverting this, a lot of site admins count on English to do the maintenance of many different language sites. Thank you!! W3TC is great!

    Exactly!

I’m not even mad about the cut off of functionalities to push you to the pro (paid) version, I get it… but it really pisses me off that nowhere is mention that the new update requires you to grant EDIT privileges to ExactMetrics in Google Analytics.

I was trying to edit my old 5 star review (for the older version) but for some reason afer I edit text and press “submit” only the old review is shown. It doesn’t take the changes. So I’m posting here.

I’m going to give you 5 stars because the WP plugin rating is faulty:

    1) Users should be able to delete their own ratings.
    2) Ratings should be version specific. It’s not fair to authors to bundle all user’s ratings as if they belong to current plugin version. If you improve your plugin according to what users expect, you are still affected by old version’s ratings and reviews.
I didn’t realize this up until now, though I usually give only positive reviews.

    Hi,

I was respectful and objective in my review.
At this time (plugin version 1.0), is not a 5 star plugin, and I have a valid reason why.
    I gave a generous 4 star.
However, I don’t want to upset you, so I’d like to delete my review, do you know how can I do that? I can’t find the option.

PS: I’d like to know if the Pro version gets rid of Freemius and all this issues. If so I might buy it.
