 * Hello Esmi,
    Thank you for your guidance…
 * It seems when I deactivate WPML (older version), it runs better…
    edit: deactivating
   plugins (WPML) helps a bit. running twenty ten is pretty much the same speed…
   Thank you for your help!

 * Allright,
 * figured it out. There was nothing wrong in the first place. I was mislead by
   the standard rights wordpress gives to the usergroups and the way “adminimize”
   offers changebility… In my experience “adminimize” can only give less rights
   and not the other way around. Thus I was mislead by the userinterface of that
   plugin.
 * In my example: An author can NOT change pages in the first place, an Editor does…

 * Have you tried it local on your machine?
    easy install for windows: using XAMPP
   easy install for mac: using MAMP
 * 1. get it in the right place (path in mamp/xampp)
    2. create a database (mySQL),
   give rights, add user (note: remember passwords which you’ll need in the installer)
   3. use your browser and go to corresponding path… 4. the wizard starts now…
 * ps: There is a tutorial on this site running MAMP…
    ps2: in the beginning it
   really is frustrating, till you figure it out…

 * ok, same problem after clean install of wordpress3.1 and new mySQL database…

   What is wrong, am I overseeing something?
 * **things I just did:**
    1) I created a new map, putted default wordpress content
   in it (just downloaded it). 2) created a new database 3) runned the config and
   got things working 4) created a few users: author, writer,… just to test the
   problem… 5) my author still doesn’t see the standard admin panel (he can’t eg.
   create pages)
 * ps: The only thing that is not reconfigured/installed is MAMP… (maybe this is
   causing it?) All the rest is just a fresh default install without any adjustments…

 * esmi, I’m aware of that, however the previous database was from a time before
   installing the plugin which caused it to break… Could this by any meaning have
   anything to do with eg. .htaccess ?
 * will try again in the morning with a fresh install and no imports…

 * Hello esmi, actually it is, but that’s not my point to be honest.
 * I downloaded wordpress 3.1 again.
    created a new database, and imported my posts
   whcij I exported. Took my theme again and installed the plugins one by one (but
   not adminimize).
 * will check if some “import options” are recreating this bug again…

 * I started a new database, a new wordpress install and when I create a user (author),
   I still have the same problem (eg. “pagesmenu” missing in admin panel, due to“
   adminimize”).
 * Are there any files that are hidden of some sort, which I need to adapt?

 * plugin looks great apart from the annoying popup, which makes it useless to utilize…
