In reply to: Archives GlitchI guess what I am saying is it might not be the ‘code’ to display the archives (happens with all archive widgets) and rather a corrupt database entry with all the importing and exporting…..

In reply to: API Key — Where can I get one? That is correct! It is the hosted version of wordpress (wordpress.com) run by Automattic that gives out the API keys!

In reply to: Archives GlitchThanks jeremyclark13 for the help. In this example, I am using the default sidebar widget and for the archive page created above (http://trentadams.com/archives/) I am using the page template ‘Archives’.
If I change the widget to not show the post counts for the sidebar widget, it just shows the “0” below all the months. I am kind of at a loss since I am not sure where to look 😉

In reply to: How to restore a large xml export file? You can split it up Felix, but if you have access to the max_file_upload in your hosts php.ini file, you can temporary change it to 8 megs to accomidate the larger file.

In reply to: Archives GlitchI am not worried about the post count though, but the linked “0” to the current month. If I remove the post count, it still will just show the “0” versus the “0 (1)”.

In reply to: API Key — Where can I get one?You need to signup for an “account” at wordpress.com since that is where you get an API key. You can signup for a free blog as well, but just signing up for an account is sufficient. There will be a welcome email with the API key or after signing up head over to:
http://dashboard.wordpress.com

In reply to: Length of RSS FeedSimple way is to use the <!–more–> feature, it will cut off posts in RSS feeds. There might be a plugin over at http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins but I am not sure.

In reply to: cross post to another wordpress accountYou would almost have to do this backwards. Post on wordpress.com and then use a Feed Aggregate software like FeedWordPress or something to use the RSS feed to automatically populate your other blog.
I am not sure if there are blogging software packages for your computer that allow you to post to both wordpress.com and other blogs in one go. Something like wBloggar might or BlogDesk or whatever. Something to think about!

In reply to: Spam to DeathI personally would recommend looking at the 2 following plugins which help out HUGE!
1) Akismet – Great spam protection plugin used by many people and works very effectively.
2) Bad-Behavior – A great tool that stops bad bots from even playing around on the site if they show signs of being a spammer. (Stops automatic spambots)
My 2 cents!

In reply to: Problems importing MYSQL DatabaseForum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Problem with blog stats…If you are talking about the wordpress.com stats, you have to login with your wordpress.com username and password, not your wordpress.org or blog username and passwords. Once you login with whatever you used to get your API key, it will let you see them.

In reply to: API keyThat error just means that it couldn’t contact the stats server. Does it continue to happen for you?

In reply to: wont accept api keyIt won’t accept it if you registered stats with a different email than what you used for akismet. That might be the problem.
