In reply to: Can we convert website to wordpress blog?WordPress is dynamically generated, but you can create somewhat ‘static’ pages.

As for getting the same layout and general ‘feel’ for the blog, it is just a matter of editing a template of a wordpress theme to look like the current site if you want!

Hope that helps.

In reply to: Garbage help meIf you are not interested in using the install4free service, there are other hosts that have auto install of wordpress listed in the “hosting” tab. If your host doesn’t meet the minimum requirements for hosting wordpress, then it might be easier to look for one that does. My 2 cents.

In reply to: Moving wp.com to bluehost with existing domainI think he is referring to the domain itself more than the content. You just need to get godaddy to change the name servers to ns1.bluehost.com and ns2.bluehost.com so that the domain goes to your new server.
It might be easier to setup your blog on a subdomain of your existing domain on bluehost, import the content from wordpress.com and then change the settings to have the old domain. Little more work, but seamless for your readers.
Nothing else needed to do on wordpress.com. I wouldn’t delete you blog, just create an entry saying the new domain and leave the blog URL as your current domain to forward traffic until it expires over there.

In reply to: Recover Post Selectively From WP Export File?If it is an export file off that installation, the import function knows which ones are there and will not import files already there! It should be no problem to import the entire file and let wordpress decide what it is missing. I do that quite often when syncing installations as old posts will not be imported again.
That being said, you can just take the posts that you want from the <item> to </item> and then use the entire header and footer information around the items you want and just save the file you create as a .xml extension.

In reply to: Archives Glitchmoshu, that is genious! I bet that is the problem and would be explained with missing information during an import or export! I will do some searching and show as resolved if that is the case 😉
Really appreciated!

In reply to: Automattic Stats plugin relies on WP.com, FYIIt might be a cookies issue for the second issue. Worst case it edit your profile on your dashboard.wordpress.com and make sure the password and username are the same. Even if you can login to dashboard.wordpress.com will be a start 😉
As for the first issue, I don’t think they mind if you use it for a couple of personal blogs, but nothing commercial. Worst case is you have a different wp.com account for a second API.

In reply to: importing from wordpress.com only partialKeep trying to import the file. It should be on the page with a list of all entries and at the bottom say done. It can take a few minutes to complete. Don’t worry about duplicates because it will not import those 😉
