It was a really weird issue:
The problem started on the moment I installed the plugin (free version). Because I wanted to have it solved sooner, I bought the premium plugin. From the moment I put the new API code in Wordfence, it was solved.
I opened a support ticket (#82826) on the premium support.Not sure what is different in the http redirects between the free and paid version?

I did find the error: a plugin which was used to put a recaptcha on the admin-login screen interfered with CF7. This only happened in Firefox & Internet explorer and not in safari & Chrome…
Thus deactivating this plugin fixed the issue.Forum: Plugins
