 * Thank you! I modified wp-config.php as described in the description, but a debug.
   log file was never created. However, without any further action the **site came
   online again**, so it seems to have **cured itself** magically. ✨🧙‍♂️
 * Maybe someone else can do further research if a similar problem surfaces …
