Hi there,
“If your plugin is active, the Thumbnail image is 12.3kB, if I deactivate your plugin and regenerate images, it is 40.9kB”
By “Thumbnail image” do you mean the image size named “Thumbnail”?
If that is the case then you are correct, “regenerating” thumbnails with the “Thumbnail” image size not selected in Settings >> Compress JPEG & PNG images should not compress the image.
Have you saved changes after unselecting the “Thumbnail” image size in your settings?
I should mention that using the “Compress new images in the background” option might interfeer with the “Force Regenerate” plugin as both the TinyPNG plugin and “Force Regenerate” are both image-related plugins which might cause issues.
Could you please try the experiment again with the “Compress new images during upload” option and see if that fixes it?

Unfortunately, we don’t have a way to not optimize uploaded images this means that the images you upload will be optimized by our plugin.
I would recommend to look into the slider plugin and see if you can somehow disable the optimizer.

Is it possible that you have a free account? If this is the case it would explain the first error because your free credit might be used up.
The other errors can be caused by connectivity problems that should normally only be temporary. However if you keep getting the same errors while attempting to compress images with the plugin then it would be helpful to get some extra information. If you can let us know at support@tinypng.com which hosting provider you use, and if you can share the output of phpinfo() and/or the PHP/Wordpress error logs with us then that could be helpful in finding the cause.

The error message indicated that your server is not able to reach our API. Could you please try again as it could have been a temporary issue.
If you are still having issues perhaps you can contact your hosting provider to see if there’s anything blocking the connection (like a firewall).

It is compatible with Woocommerce. You will get to choose which image sizes for the product images are compressed under Settings > Compress JPEG & PNG images.

Currently, we do not have a workflow that will benefit you. I would suggest to look into our plugin code and see if you can find a way to invalidate the images by not sending them to our service.

You seem to have the right settings for compressing the original images.
We’ve noticed before that Google often reports that already compressed images can be compressed even more.
Google seemed to compress images more aggressively which resulted in smaller images but often also a visually noticeable difference.
The compression engine tries to find the optimal compression the first time you compress.
It is possible to compress an image again, sometimes further decreasing the file size.
However, doing this usually degrades the quality of the image.
Some images may not degrade as much as others, but there will always be difference. Therefore we recommend only compressing the image once.Please compare a local true original image with the full size “original” image on wordpress, and see if the file size has changed.
If the file size has been reduced they are in fact compressed, just not as aggressively as google suggests.
If the file size has stayed the same please let us know so we can look further into this.Forum: Reviews
