   I can confirm this behavior. I tested it as well and the
   issue is indeed caused by the “show template” setting. As soon as show template
   is disabled, blocks can be duplicated and edited without any issues, and no duplicate
   IDs are generated anymore. Many thanks for sharing this — it finally solved a
   problem I’ve been struggling with for months. So this definitely seems to be 
   a glitch related to that option. Hopefully this helps others who are running 
   into the same problem.
