 * 5 hours … writing one page of a blog? How long would it have been?
 * If you’re writing that long on one page, you’d be better writing several pages(
   In which case earlier pages would have been saved).
 * Who is going to scroll down a single page that has taken five hours to write!

 * Just cos you change the title, it doesn’t necessarily mean you’ll increase your
   traffic. Google will re-index your title, and your page, but where it lists your
   page will depend on the page content more than the page title.
 * Google doesn’t want to send people looking for “Apples”, to pages named “Apples”,
   but with page content about “Pears”.
 * It would rather send people looking for “Apples” to pages with content about “
   Apples”, even if the page itself is called “Pears”.
 * Hope you followed that! What I’m trying to point out. Page content is the thing
   that really matters, not the page title.
 * Ideally, both would match, but if they don’t, it’s the page content that carries
   most weight.

 * kingwt.
 * CPanel, if you’ve got it, is software supplied by your hosting company.
 * WordPress, if you’ve got it, is software you supply on your hosting.
 * The two are completely unconnected.
 * It’s a bit like asking, “Can I access my WordPress Admin via Adobe Reader”.

 * c:\wordpress\wordpress\install.php implies that you are trying to install WordPress
   on your own computer.
 * To install WordPress on a windows computer, you first need to set up a WAMP server.
   W for Windows, A for Apache, M for MySQL, and P for PHP.
 * ‘PHP not installed’ implies that PHP is not installed on your computer.

 * Thanks for your replies above. That’s what I was looking for. Thanks.
 * It’s not a duplicate.
 * This post is about moving the URL from the **registration page**, by editing
   the users-new.php file in the **WP core files**.

 * Well I’m still trying.
 * It seems I need to change one of the WP core files rather than one of the template
   files, but I’ve tried all the ones starting ‘users.’ but without success.
 * If you’re reading this for the first time:
 * What I’m trying to do is remove the ‘Website’ entry when a user registers. I’m
   talking about ‘registration’ not leaving ‘comments’.
 * When someone registers, there’s a non-required question asking people who are
   registering to add their website address. This is what I’m trying to remove or
   comment out.
 * Any help gratefully received.

 * I don’t mind reciprocal links either, and I’ve no objection to any link within
   the post itself as long as it’s relevant to the post and adds something to it.
   But if someone makes 100 comments on my website that’s 100 separate outgoing
   links.
 * It seems to be a case of all or nothing.
 * Reciprocal love is great. One sided love is oppressive!

 * Neodan,
 * I’d tried the above, but with my theme it got rid of the URL input box but still
   left the URL title.
 * I found that commenting out the whole paragraph worked for me.
 * Just find the above code in your comments.php file, find the start of the paragraph
   indicated by <p> and place <– before it like this:
 * `<!-- <p>`
 * Do the same where the paragraph ends, like this:
 * `</p> -->`
    That comments out the whole paragraph and removes both the title
   and the input field.

 * Thanks for your reply.
 * I’ve looked at the other post. Presumably this deletes the requirement for an‘
   url’ when someone leaves a comment, but this isn’t what I want.
 * What I want, is to remove the ‘url’ from user profile.
 * If you look at [http://beliefaith.com/hindu-right-to-cremation-in-uk/](http://beliefaith.com/hindu-right-to-cremation-in-uk/)
   you’ll see what I mean.
 * Peter Goble has left a comment, but his name is a link to his own website, and
   that’s what I’m trying to avoid.
 * Incidentally, I did what you suggested on the other post and changed the comments.
   php file. I found `input type="text" name="url" id="url"` and changed it to `
   input type="hidden" name="url" id="url"` BUT it didn’t get rid of the URL label.
   I found out I could get rid of the whole thing by commenting out the paragraph
   the above code was in by placing <!– before the <p> , and –> after the </p>.
 * Any additional help on removing the URL from user profile would be gratefully
   appreciated.

 * I can understand the security issues, and I think having a name, email, and IP
   address logged is great.
 * My problem is with the Url box. It confuses people that don’t have a website
   and I’d like to remove it but don’t know how.
 * At the moment I’ve got the “Comment author must fill out name and e-mail” box
   ticked, but it also adds an “Url” box. How do I keep the remainder but take the
   url part away?

 * Grerat. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.
 * I deactivated all the other plugins and switched to the WP default theme, and
   I could immediately see the form.
 * I activated all the other plugins one by one and I could still see the form.
 * I then changed back to the ‘Amazing’ theme I was using and the form dissapeared.
   On a closer inspection the form was there, but there was no line surrounding
   the input boxes so I couldn’t see them. Neither would visitors to the site.
 * Seems this is a theme problem not a plugin or shortcode problem
 * Maybe this forum topic will help someone else in the future with the same problem.
 * As for me. I think I’ll just try a different theme.
 * Thanks again, Michael, for your help. Much appreciated.

 * Thanks for your prompt reply Michael. Much appreciated.
 * I’ve tried both of these, but with the same result.
 * On the actual page, the form shows all the headings such as Your Name, Your Email,
   Subject, etc., but there is no line on which anyone can type the answers.
 * These plugins obviously work for everyone else, but not for me, so it’s obviously
   me that’s doing something wrong or have missed something out.
 * I’ve read most of the posts on the subject, and as far as I know I’m doing what
   I ought to. But I’m obviously wrong and missing something. I don’t know what.
 * I’m currently trying to use clean-contact at [http://whatto-do.com/contact/](http://whatto-do.com/contact/)
   and contact form 7 at [http://www.my-fix-it.com/contact/](http://www.my-fix-it.com/contact/)
   but I can’t get either of them to work.
 * I’ve never used shortcodes before. I’m assuming that I only need to download
   a plugin that uses a shortcode, activate it, and type the shortcode into the
   HTML of a page. I take it that there isn’t something like a ‘activate shortcodes’
   plugin that I also have to install?
 * Help!
