 * go the answer i needed and it all makes sense now. I was not using the wordpress
   application, I was using wordpress.com to access my site. It sucks being a newbie:(

 * I must be missing something because I’ve replaced with the text you sent which
   was much like the text that was there except it included a version. I refreshed
   the wordpress window. Went to themes . . .nada. Searched for it to – nothing 
   came up. I’m beyond frustrated. what could I be missing here.

 * and once I do this, I should be able to go to themes on my wordpress site and
   it should just be there along with all the other options for me to choose, correct?
