 * My apologies. It is late here and I failed to include an important detail. I 
   was attempting to perform a restore to a brand new installation of WordPress.
 * After my initial post, I did a complete uninstall and reinstall of WordPress.
   This time I set the database name and table prefixes the same as in the back-
   up. I was able to restore the back-up.
 * I can’t say with a 100% confidence it was a database and table naming issue; 
   it could have been a bad WordPress installation.
 * I look forward to the newest version.
