 * Yeah, that will do it. In addition to this, we’re preparing a new release that
   will include several back end options to prevent the message from ever appearing.
   Thanks for the workaround.

 * Thanks for the review sbalis. I understand how annoying some of our users are
   finding these notices. I want you to know that we’re preparing a new release
   of members that should make it much easier to opt out of these messages in the
   future. I’d love to hear some additional feedback once we have the release out.
   We should have it ready within the next month or so. Thanks!

 * Sorry for the trouble engerim. I really like the suggestions you’ve made here(
   thanks for taking the time to give some solid, constructive feedback) and we’re
   preparing a new release of members that should make it much easier to opt out
   of these messages in the future.

 * Hi [@gvnn86](https://wordpress.org/support/users/gvnn86/),
 * No, that’s not possible with Members. You should look into our other membership
   plugin MemberPress (memberpress.com) … this should be quite easy to do with it.
 * I hope that helps,
 * Blair

 * Yes, MemberPress is compatible with PHP 7 as well. Glad you got it resolved though.

   [[Application Passwords] Convenient and more secure than using User passwords](https://wordpress.org/support/topic/convenient-and-more-secure-than-using-real-user-passwords/)

 * Thanks [@moreauf](https://wordpress.org/support/users/moreauf/) … that’s a good
   question. You actually still use _Basic Auth_ with Application Passwords so _as
   far as the actual request there’s no difference in security_. But Application
   Passwords **are more secure** because they’re more limited than your actual password.
   If someone got a hold of one of your application passwords he/she could only
   use it with the API on your site — _he/she couldn’t actually log in to your wp-
   admin with it_.
 * Also, numerous application passwords can be created. The idea is that you could
   _use a unique application password for each external system_ you’ve connected
   to your site’s API. So if one of your application passwords gets compromised
   then you’d just revoke the one and, in theory, none of your others would be affected.
 * I find that _Application Passwords_ also just makes things more convenient. If
   I’m working with another developer on an API centric project I can generate an
   application password for him/her and revoke it when the project’s done … without
   revealing my actual password.
 * Could a hacker wreak havoc if he/she got a hold of one of your application passwords?
   Yes. But it’s going to be a bit harder. So you still absolutely need SSL but
   _Application Passwords_ adds an additional layer of security and convenience
   that makes it a great option for many people.
 * Hope that helps, Blair

 * If anything the new updates have improved the existing slug checking. Have you
   submitted a request so our support team can help you figure out what is causing
   the issue on your specific site?
 * Thanks, Blair

 * galverito86 … this is not a bug. Pretty Link has to determine if there are potential
   conflicts before using a slug. If you can submit a request to [https://prettylinkpro.com/contact](https://prettylinkpro.com/contact)
   we’d be happy to look at why this is happening in your specific case.

 * [@dennisblack777](https://wordpress.org/support/users/dennisblack777/) … this
   was actually a bug in the plugin that affected some Pretty Link users. It was
   intended to show up in a small popup which could be permanently dismissed immediately…
   but for some users it was showing up at the top of every admin page. As soon
   as it was reported to us we corrected the problem–less than 12 hours after it
   was introduced. So if you upgrade to 2.0.6 you shouldn’t see this happening anymore.

 * Thomas & Jan, Thanks for the heads up … it was definitely not our intention to
   have the plugin hitting this url on admin_init in the lite edition (or in any
   edition of our plugin with this frequency). We just issued a commit for a version
   2.0.2 that resolves this issue. We completely removed the ‘admin_init’ actions
   that were being called.
