 * I realized that a plug-in called WordPress Admin Bar was still activated, but
   it is no longer needed since there is an admin bar in the current version of 
   WordPress. Once I deactivated and deleted it, and deleted one other plug-in that
   wasn’t active, I started receiving email notifications again.
