 * [@reichertbrothers](https://wordpress.org/support/users/reichertbrothers/), thank
   you SO much for taking the time to reply, and in enough detail to hopefully help
   someone with a similar problem. Fantastic! It’s quite frustrating not being able
   to find a solution no matter how hard and long one looks…
 * This wouldn’t work for my client, but I can see how it makes perfect sense for
   yours (except, as you mentioned, the customer having to select ‘none’ for the
   options they don’t want).
 * In consulting with a knowledgeable Woo Affiliate worker, it seems the best solution
   for my client site is to bring the in-built cross-sell products from the Cart
   page to the indiuvidual product page/s. Apparently this is quite simple to accomplish,
   and I’m surprised no one on the WooCommerce team – over many, many weeks of tech
   help – could help with this or even mention it, but I’m paying the gentleman
   to do this and I’ll be happy when it’s done.
 * Thanks again!

 * I’ve come across the exact same thing after changing my permissions in cPanel,
   for the same reason (needed writable files).
 * How did you resolve the need for writable files after reverting your chmod settings?…
 * Thanks in advance, pickwicksPlum 🙂

 * OK, so you now see, I think, that you could set ‘Other Page’ or any page you
   create be your home page. As I mentioned above, you can call your newly created
   page ‘Home’ and set this as your default.
 * To remove that link from your listed pages (sidebar or wherever), try this:
 * 1) Click on Pages>>Edit. Scroll over the ‘edit’ function of your page nominated
   as Home. If you look at the very bottom left of your screen, this page should
   be assigned a number. eg. [http://yoursite.com/wp-admin/page.php?action=edit&post=2](http://yoursite.com/wp-admin/page.php?action=edit&post=2)
 * (even though it’s a page it is still assigned a post number)
 * 2) Go into Appearance>>Editor and under your sidebar.php find a section that
   looks something like this:
 * <?php wp_list_pages(‘**exclude=6,52&**title_li=&depth=4&sort_column=menu_order’);?
   >
 * The example used is one of mine and you may have various instructions in here,
   but the important part is how it starts out ie. “<?php wp_list_pages “
 * You will see I have excluded some pages in my list of pages, and you can do the
   same. Just add the ‘exclude=’ and the number then ‘&’ before the next instruction.
   The ‘ marks are mine to show you what to add, but do ensure your instructions
   fall within the ‘ marks in the bracket.
 * This is not easy to articulate…hmmm! Please feel free to ask if you require clarification.

 * Saurabh suggests a solution, and for anyone who might find this helpful, it worked
   for me. Sigh of relief.

 * OK, just tried renaming the plugins file, clearing cookies (in both firefox and
   ie), no result.
 * Also replaced the entire wp-admin file with one from a blog that is working fine…
   no joy.
 * I notice in my address bar that the address is:
 * [http://breathingprosperity.com/blog/wp-admin/edit-comments.php?comment_status=moderated](http://breathingprosperity.com/blog/wp-admin/edit-comments.php?comment_status=moderated)
 * That ‘moderated’ status may be what’s causing the problem. They are NOT moderated,
   they are pending. Ideas?
 * I’m starting to worry there’s no fix, but that is not possible – SOMETHING will
   work. Anyone? Puleease?

 * OK – nothing that seems related. AddtoAny, xmlsitemap, wp stats
 * I’ll uninstall them all, refresh cache and then see…thanks, ipstenu. Will that
   be as good as or better than renaming?
 * Anything else?

 * Most ad companies will give you the exact html or whatever code is necessary
   to have your banner or link work with your specific affiliate identity. Not sure
   about a plug-in…

 * Can you post the site so we can see it?
 * It may be that it’s not a page – it may be set to your posts as a default. Check
   in the ‘reading’ section under settings and see what your default home page is.
   We may be able to help you from there…
 * You can create a page called home and put whatever you want on it if you want
   to start fresh, and then use those same settings above to direct people to ‘home’
   page as home.

 * Just tested those for you, and while the link looks fine (an affiliate link?)
   it hangs up the screen with something, at least for me — that may be at the other
   end, and you should double check with them on that.

 * I got that whole address from my host guys…as a way to ‘easily’ upload and administer
   things. So much for that. I’m afraid I’m messing things up further.
 * Thanks again, Moshu…I’ll have to keep playing with it, I guess. Although not
   sure what to do.

   all is there except it says the config file does not exist. Why isn’t any of
