 * I only changed files that were under “Editor” under the Theme. I assume that 
   these are NOT WordPress files, so WordPress doesn’t care about them. I guess 
   I need to review again what is in what folder. Sigh.

 * Thanks for the quick reply. I’m a little disappointed that I cannot use my host’s
   mechanism to update. I’m not technical when it comes to WP, SQL, etc.
 * Anyway, I read the instructions from the link you gave me. Even though I’m at
   2.8, the instructions for 2.7 say:
 * > Follow Steps 1 through 4 below, then visit Administration > Tools > Upgrade
   > and click the Upgrade Automatically button.
 *  I have that button (!) but hadn’t noticed it before. This process is _short_
   compared to the other directions. Will this work in my situation?
 * Also, I made some changes to the php files to remove/change date structures, 
   etc., and made lots of CSS changes. I assume that I will just restore those back
   to the appropriate folder?
