 * [@csm101](https://wordpress.org/support/users/csm101/) I am using Akismet which
   should theoretically be helping with comment form SPAM (though I can’t find any
   settings to that effect). More importantly, I replaced the Jetpack contact form
   block with one from Kadence, which has an option for non-captcha anti-spam built
   in already.

 * No worries, I uninstalled it and found another solution.

 * Thanks for your suggestions.
    It turned out to be a lot faster for me to just
   uninstall Hummingbird and replace it with another plugin.

 * Spoke too soon!
 * Making ANY changes to AO after the reset puts Hummingbird into a sort of loop
   where it is saying caching is disabled while AO configures. It then reenables
   caching only to go back to disabling/purging it.

 * I went ahead and rest all settings as you suggested, so that it could activate
   AO first and step through the initial setup again. It appears to be working correctly
   now for Page Caching (though I did for some reason have to manually update htaccess
   to get GZip compression working again, not sure why). Thanks.

 * Thanks.
 * I have only tried automatic mode.
 * In the debug log, I am seeing messages such as “Skipping page. Used PURGE method.

 * Thanks, Marko. Removing the lines from .htaccess and then upgrading via the dashboard
   looks to have resolved the issue.

 * >> Okay, it’s not the Firewall then. It’s something else. The question is what.
 * If I revert to the last pre-firewall version of WF, it behaves normally.
 * >> 1. Does the adsense code look intact when you view the source of the page?
 * Yes, and it is defaulting to displaying whatever is set on the Google end when
   it is unable to display ads (my own custom banner, or colored rectangle, etc.).
 * >> 2. Have you tried viewing the pages where the ads fail with a browser console
   open? (Check for any javascript or net/http errors).
 * Yes, that code appears to be functioning as designed.

 * Thanks.
 * 1. No, it’s all PHP / code.
 * 2. Nope.
 * 3. No. The odd thing is that the ad code may actually be running, but Adsense
   is defaulting to the backup ad I specified (when it cannot run its own ads);
   this behavior corrects if I revert back to the last pre-firewall version of Wordfence.

 * Sorry, I understand what you’re saying but it hardly seems worth the effort or
