Why would you need to **globally** hide the Screen Options, when it’s needed elsewhere within WordPress? It just doesn’t make sense. Please put pressure on this fix. I have the same problem and I’ve pinned it down to the Yoast SEO plugin as the issue disappears when it is deactivated. Simply install then go to the plugins screen, select “Rollback” on the plugin you want to rollback. Select a version to rollback to. Time to move on to another plugin. Very disappointing.
