 * I figured out how to fix this. When you insert a picture into a page or post,
make sure that the Link URL isn’t set to “Post URL”, because then it links to
the attachment rather than the file. Set the link manually or click the “File
URL” button under the Link URL field. If you link to Post URL once it saves this
setting and links all subsequent uploads to the Post URL rather than the file.

 * Aw man, I am glad I found this page. All of a sudden the FancyBoxed images weren’t
closing and the ‘X’ wasn’t working but I changed to Swing and it was working
   again.
 * It severely freaked me out – maybe you should add it to FAQs in case other people
are running into the same issue they can find the fix easier?

 * [@abecoffman](https://wordpress.org/support/users/abecoffman/) – I’m not using
wp-super-cache but I am using Chrome (on MAC). I have found that I don’t experience
this issue in any other browser – or at least that I can’t replicate it yet.
It seems to be somewhat related to the other issues I have with Chrome having
fits of selectively omitting content or taking forever to load tiny files.
 * I haven’t found a fix for it yet, but if I notice it happening I just boot up
   FireFox or Safari.

 * Ipstenu – I have that box unchecked, and it’s still happening.
 * In the HTML editor after I click “update” it shows the code as I wrote it. But
on the site, it shows extra code. Then – if I exit the editor and return – the
mangled code is there. That’s probably what’s baffling me the most.
 * I thought having the HTML area was supposed to give me more control but it’s
   just giving me a headache.
 * Has anyone else had luck with a adding function hook or something in their theme?
I tried using a hook that filtered wpautop but that’s not really been helping
any as it’s for the auto `<p>` tag function.
