 * I installed WP for a friend 11 months ago.. and she never used it. so, i upgraded
   it.
 * I’ve never used it. so, I’m not familiar with it.
 * I saw in the options that you can specify a different folder for the blog, but
   when i do that, I get errors.
 * the reason I don’t want to install WordPress at the root is because wordpress
   is one of several packages installed on the site. I have a gallery2, and a forum
   installed. It is cleaner to keep the different packages in separate folders. 
   for one thing, if you install everything at the root, and one page has a subfolder
   with the same/similar name.. it gets real confusing trying to maintain a website.
