 * Update…
 * I’ve updated to 2.6, and reinstalled 2.6. (The new “restore” function worked
   nicely, BTW.) But still no joy.
 * Where I ought to be sing confirmation that the edit has been save, this is all
   I get:
 * [http://www.agrippinaminor.com/wp/wp-admin/post.php](http://www.agrippinaminor.com/wp/wp-admin/post.php)
 * No “action=”. Since I’m getting stonewalled by the same script that zillions
   of others are using successfully, I have to assume that one of the enabling conditions
   isn’t being met.
 * Question is, which one? And why? I’ve done absolutely no hacking or customizing.
   It’s default all the way.

 * Similar problems. (1) I use _Ecto_ as a front end on my _Mac_. Suddenly I coudn’t
   upload images. The error messages asks if the access point is correct. Since
   the text uploads just fine, it must be.
 * (2) I started editing the text in _WP_, adding the images there. Cool, if inconvenient.
   Cool for a while, anyhow.
 * (3) Then suddenly I could no longer save edit changes. In fact, I couldn’t save
   even if I had made no changes. Nor could I save if I created an entirely new
   post.

 * Can’t help you, aspire; but, mlstrainer, the login page should provide a “forgot
   password?” button/link.
 * Hasn’t helped me, alas. I hit the link, provide my username or email address,
   and am told I will receive an email with a link to where I can reset the password.
 * Problem is–though I get the email– every time I use the link, I’m told that the“
   key is no longer valid.” I’m trapped in an endless loop of frustration. Hope
   you have better luck.

 * Thanks, Mr./Ms./Dr. t.
 * From the very first time I started using _WP_, with _Ecto_ as a front-end, everything
   posted correctly to the MySQL database. When the process failed, for no obvious
   reason (with 2.5), I created a folder within _wp–content_, uploaded images via
   FTP, and linked to that URL. A kludge, obviously, but it worked.
 * When I updated to 2.5.1, though, almost everything failed. Yes, I could created
   a text message within _WP_, and that showed up. Yes, I could upload images to
   the _Gallery_ using the _WP_ utility, and they were listed there. But they didn’t
   show up.
 * I have everything archived, so I’m ready to start from scratch. I’ll try 86ing
   the whole blog and database and trying again. But I’m nerdish enough to hate
   the idea of giving up without understanding the problem.
 * Anyhow, thanks much. I’ll post a follow-up after my attempt as a draconian solution.

 * My problem isn’t with getting images on my site. It’s with getting my site to
   display the images. I’ve tried two approaches: (1) using the upload utility and(
   b) uploading via FTP and linking–both automatically and manually. In every case
   the uploading went flawlessly. But in no case were my images displayed. Not sure
   whether it’s a _WordPress_ problem or a server problem.
 * [Note: This wasn’t a problem until I updated from 2.5 to 2.5.1. But it’s probably
   relevant that, with 2.5, one day I could use _Ecto_ or _MacJournal_ as a front-
   end…and next day I couldn’t. That quick. However, I could still write in _WP_
   itself, and I could upload images via FTP, link them, and have them display.
   Once I updated to 2.5.1, however, I was SOL. Not only was I unable to display
   new images, but the previously displayed images disappeared. Nice problem for
   inquisitive problem-solvers, I’m sure; but ultra-frustrating for a guy who just
   wants to say “Hello, World!” Yeah. In times past, I did learn several computer
   languages. Programmers will recognize the allusion.]
 * I’ll share this both with the WP community and with my ISP. I want to stay with
   both, and I recognize there’s a good chance that either I’ve screwed the pooch
   or my database has been corrupted. This is not about who’s at fault, though,
   but about getting back in operation. Consequently, I’ll hope for the best but
   in the meantime be looking for a “bail out and start over” alternative.

 * Grazie, forum colleagues. This is what it’s about.
 * km, point taken. I stand reproved, and also instructed. Here’s the URL:

 * tf, good advice. I’ve eliminated as many variables as possible. With 2.5, I couldn’t
   use front-end programs like Ecto or MacJournal, but I could manually upload and
   link to images.
 * With 2.5.1, I can do neither. Wait! Correction. Yes, I can **upload** images,
   and consequently I can link to them. I just can’t get them to show up.
 * Thanks, folks!

 * With 2.5, I suddenly lost the ability to upload images. However, I could still
   upload them via FTP and then link to them. With 2.5.1, however, I can neither
   upload images nor link to them after they’ve been manually uploaded.
 * Qualification: I can use the built-in upload function, and the images show up
   in the gallery. But I **can’t** get them to show up in posted messages.
 * In short, I’m moving backward! Anyone have a clue how I can get back to where
   I was before things started going backwards?

 * For me this problem is intermittent. I post once, no problem. I post again half
   an hour later, and get the Ecto message “uploading x.jpg” along with the endlessly
   spinning widget. Usually if I quit Ecto and restart, everything works fine. Every
   once in a while, I have to restart twice. Annoying, but it works. I haven’t been
   able to identify the independent variable, whatever it might be.

 * Right now I’m using the penultimate version of WP. A graphic is spilling over
   beneath the right-side link panel. In an earlier experience, a graphic was squeezed
   horizontally to fit the hard-defined frame or level.
 * Both effects are…interesting; but neither is very effective. Can helpful WP folks
   save me trouble by telling me the optimal width for an embedded graphic? Wait!
   Depends on the template, I suppose.
 * No I don’t remember which theme I’m using. My fault, of course. But I don’t recall
   the documentation for the theme having defined either the issue of whether graphics
   would be resized (or how) or the optimal width of frames/levels. I think that
   info would be helpful. Yes, I know I can load the template into my web-authoring
   software of choice and check the parameters.
 * Thing is, though, while I could load the template and check the parameters, and
   could even modify the template, that’s not why I use WordPress. I use WordPress
   because I want to focus on content while leaving the programming to others. I
   think that for beginners to figure-out this stuff would be difficult or even
   impossible, while for pros to provide the crucial documentation would be easy.
 * Point? Nerds, please! Take a deep breath, roll your eyes, but provide training
   wheels in your documentation. 🙂
