  • Er… That’s how I put the scripts into the webspace in the first place. I just uploaded them.

    OK, I gave it a try. I created a folder /uploads/2005/ on my PC and sent it up. It’s now owned by user 1301 and group 102, just like the script.

    The admin panels answer is:
    Unable to create directory /srv/www/htdocs/web335/html/uwg/wp-content/uploads/2005/12. Is /srv/www/htdocs/web335/html/uwg/wp-content/uploads/2005 writable?

    Of course, its writeable, you stupid machine!

    Yes, and I could grap image file from anywhere in the world as well. But there is still somethin rotten about the script.

    I already learnt to hack the core in order to get a step further (delete $height_width somewhere). But then the system complains about ownership of files and safe mode and everything.

    I can hardly sell a solution that requires in-depth html-knowledge from people who just want to talk about themselves.

    The only remaining problem now is that with the new upload function, which keeps telling me something about safe mode restrictions and ownership and all those thing I can’t influence (http://wordpress.org/support/topic/53400?replies=13#post-293409).

    Wow, I found it! FileZilla shows hidden files. Oh, I just want to take you home and cuddle you for a while.

    .htaccess keeps disappearing

    There is something weird with my webspace (or is it WP doing that?):

    I cannot see the .htaccess-file.

    The admin panel tells me, that .htaccess isn’t writable. So I want to be nice to the admin panel and change that.

    Since I can’t see that damned file in any ftp-programm (Ispwitch, cuteFTP, Windows Explorer, the providers WebFTP – all fail on that), I upload a file called “1.htaccess”, set the CHMOD accordingly and rename the file to “.htaccess”. Upon that it disappears from the screen and my site return error 500.

    My next attempt is to upload a file called “.htacces”. As expected, it disappears again in the webspace and I can’t change any write rules. BUT – my site is delivered just as it should. And the admin panel complains again about a not writable .htaccess.

    Similar weird things happen to my-hacks.php: The admin panel says, it’s not there. If I upload something by that name, the site breaks down again.

    My provider keeps saying, that it is a problem with my ftp-programm, which is definitely not the right answer.

    Anybody able to tell me what’s going on there?

    Is there any way of getting the upload function working without CHOWN?

    The panel keeps telling me:
    Warning: move_uploaded_file(): SAFE MODE Restriction in effect. The script whose uid is 1301 is not allowed to access /srv/www/htdocs/web335/html/uwg/wp-content/uploads/2005/12 owned by uid 30 in /srv/www/htdocs/web335/html/uwg/wp-admin/admin-functions.php on line 1757
    The uploaded file could not be moved to .

    I have no shell access and CHOWN is not enabled.
    Anyway, I set all direcories to CHMOD 777.

    If there is no solution to that, the only remedy for my site is to return to version 1.5.2

    Well, thank you. WP keeps telling me things like this.

    Warning: move_uploaded_file(): SAFE MODE Restriction in effect. The script whose uid is 1301 is not allowed to access /srv/www/htdocs/web335/html/uwg/wp-content/uploads/2005/12 owned by uid 30 in /srv/www/htdocs/web335/html/uwg/wp-admin/admin-functions.php on line 1757
    The uploaded file could not be moved to .’

    I know how to change CHMOD, but how the heck do I influence OWNERSHIP?

    That’s not a question for troubleshooting but rather for CSS matters.

    But anyway, here is a suggestion:

    ‘blockquote {
    font-family: ‘Trebuchet MS’, ‘Lucida Grande’, Verdana, Arial, Sans-Serif;
    font-size: 1.4em;
    margin: 15px 30px 0 10px;
    padding-left: 35px;
    color: rgb(0,17,34);
    }

    blockquote cite {
    margin: 5px 0 0;
    display: block;
    color: rgb(51,51,51);
    font-size: 0.9em;
    }’

    WinZip 9.0. It says there are folders inside, but doesn’t want to show them.

    An empty zip?

    CHMOD 777 is set. If that isn’t enough…

    But that is just one of many problems. The system keeps telling me that there is no .htaccess.

    And there is nowhere where I can set the upload options. Opions > Misceleanous…? Nothing

    1.5.2 was just wonderfull.

    I’m troubled by that question as well. Can’t find the option, can’t use that new upload functionality (it doesn’t believe that the upload-folder exists and is perfectly writable), can’t use iimage-browser.

    Help, PLEASE!

    Oh, you lucky people!

    I’m not even able to use that new upload thing. All it tells me is
    »Unable to create directory /srv/www/htdocs/web335/html/sauerlandthemen/wp-content/uploads/2005. Is /srv/www/htdocs/web335/html/sauerlandthemen/wp-content/uploads writable?«

    Needless to say, that /wp-content/uploads/ exist and IS writable.

    I’m so tired.

    Autometa version 0.4b is from the empire of evil as well.

    Found it ! Deactivated the plugin “german-permalinks” and everything is fine again.
