@loekwoudstra, I understand. Try with my note: Make clone from updated WP+WPClone no problem with that. But where you restore the clone(into new server/domain) you need to do that with WP 4.7 or lower version, but not in 4.8. I had same issues with 4.8 but found no problem with 4.7 restoring clone file. Let me know what happened then.
Hello, Can I ask which version you took the backup from? Both WPClone and WordPress version? Are they were latest released?
Just make a clone from any recent version of WP Clone and any version of recent WP even 4.8, but restore on WP 4.7. Then update WP if need. This works for me.

You assigned Google reCaptcha for your website and need to get site key from google reCaptcha page. Your Captcha option actually work form Google I think. Check that.
