I didn’t so much figure the problem out as I figured out how to prevent the problem from happening. Same effect though.

Actually, I didn’t get it figured out all the way. It works if you request the URL the first way, but any searches done from the searchform.php include default to the index.php?s=whatever format. I’m gonna check out that URL though.

yuh: I’ve still got the old theme on the site, but it was so majorly screwed in so many different browsers that it was time to give it a rest.

vkaryl: Wow! I didn’t even think about that reference with the background. Good catch!

Très Kubrick. But it’s a start. I’m just adding a comment to encourage you to explore creating your own theme! It’s not as difficult as it first looks and way more configurable than MT.

Very nice! I like the “Porn” section as well! [It’s design porn, for those of you worried about work-safeness.]

Rosie, thanks for the post. Bad news though, it’s already taken its toll on your bandwidth count. Sorry.

As for the weird Explorer issue, does anyone know enough about IE Mac to tell me how to get the overflow: hidden to work there? Or maybe it’s the height settings [and consequent hacks]? If anyone does know this kind of thing, have a look-see at the CSS [ http://swimcommunity.org/blog/wp-content/themes/the-ribbon/style.css ] and lemme know which of those things are causing the snafu. And if there’s anything I can do about it.

    Thanks a million, kittens!

Logank, thanks for the wonderful complement on the source code. I’m super anal about that kind of stuff. I hacked my way through the WP source to get my tabs right [and clean up some rather messy code]. That complement probably means the most to me! [Though I do like that the page looks spiffy as well.]

FIXED! I hope! At least, the two main errors are fixed. Anyone else having strange issues?

Okay, I found out the buglet on this issue. If I could just get some feedback to whether it works on Macs now… Thanks!

Thanks for that hack! Works wonders. I finagled a few text-align: center commands as well and everything looks hunky dory.

Well, except for whatever it is that IE wants to do with my lists on this page: http://swimcommunity.org/links/

    Help?

Alright. i think I got rid of that links bugginess, though let me know if that’s not true. It should work now in Opera/IE/Mozilla. At least on PC.

However, I still can’t figure out what the heck is up with the lists on these two pages:

    http://swimcommunity.org/archives/
    http://swimcommunity.org/links/

The links page makes it very obvious that for some reason IE is having a hard time letting go of that negative text-indent on those li elements. Oh! Hold on a second. Oh, nevermind. I thought I might could have put the indent on the ul element, but that would have only indented the first line. :/

Please, please, please someone fill me in on what I’m missing.

It works in your FireFox, though, right?

    Three words: Box. Model. Hack.

The weird thing is that IE’s shifting the links at the bottom over by some really odd numbers. I manually lined them up [shifting the CSS numbers] in IE and compared them to the numbers that work in FireFox… There’s not a set of numbers that correlate. The “links” link is shoved over by a great deal many more pixels than the “archives” link is. I can’t find anything in the CSS that would make IE just randomly change the “left” pixels.

Also, the unordered lists on the “links” page itself get NASTY screwed up in IE. It’s like the browser isn’t resetting the text-indent numbers, but instead piling them up each time there’s a new list. The lists themselves are correctly closed and everything. It’s really weird.

I think I’m going to try something else for the links. The image replacement technique I’m using there is a little wonky in IE and Opera [due to “overflow: hidden” support or lack thereof]. If you have any suggestions on good ways to fix this, let me know.

What browser are you using, please?
