premium version says “the list only visible to you”
This means all users cannot see it ??
    Maybe I have understood wrong.

We really need a demo link to test it. Has the problems with Multisite install been solved in the premium? Otherwise no use purchasing it.
    Other worries are :
Will this be supported in future versions of WordPress-Buddypress?
Since this is not in core (Event is in core of all usual social scripts like Jomsocial, Easysocial, Withknown etc) it makes sort of an uncomfortable feeling.

Many threads here are getting marked [Resolved] which is a misnomer imho. Marking as Duplicate / Under consideration / Future Release etc would be appropriate. Since there are no such labels here, marking as resolved can give satisfaction only to the Dev 🙂

    Thanks again for the responses.

    +1

A little bit of explanation what buddypress users are looking forward to with great expectation for the last 5 to 6 years, and what is being delayed in the core for eternity.

    – member can Like/Favorit a post in the Activity stream
    – the same Like/Favorit will show up under the actual post in that post page
    – member can also Like/Favorit a post in the actual post page
    – the same Like/Favorit will show up instantly in the Activity stream
    – members can see who has Favorited by clicking or hovering on the Favorite count (for example, Favorited by A, B, C, D, E and 5 more – on clicking more you see more names) BOTH in the stream and the actual post

[ As a note : this behavior is present in Buddypics by modemlooper – so that code may be ?? reused ]

Along with this Good to have
    – I can see in a Profile tab what you have Favorited
    – You can see in one of my Profile tab what I have Favorited

Basically without these Like/Favorite is almost impossible to implement – Elgg, Easysocial, Jomsocial etc as well as real world social nets have Likes/Favorite which act as 2-way switch between the stream and the actual content

    Thanks.

Querying wordpress.com can take place in the background and if email/username exists the same can be denied for new registration in the frontend.

As per the confirmation email, wordpress.com can authenticate valid and participating sites to have their own authentication. You can look at the ‘Drupal’ module of Drupal version 5

Nothing is impossible in the coding world. Question is : how much interested we are in such a solution 🙂 Often demand may not be there but once implemented people crazily use it. That is foresight like Apple 😉

    Thanks for your feedback.

    Hi Jeremy Herve

    Thanks a lot for replying.
The first criteria is whether we are going to do this as a “Stop Press” feature – that is, whether we have agreed to do it as quickly as possible 🙂

If YES, then everything else can be sorted out fast. First of all, this is optional feature – those who want to enable it via Jetpack, can enable it. Those who do not, just do not – no forcing!

Now to come to your question : the answer is really very simple

Add a small checkbox ( I prefer in ‘selected state’) below the form
    – This will create an account on both abc.com and wordpress.com and I agree to the TOSs of abc.com & wordpress.com

    Simple.

Just hyperlink to both the TOSs to abc.com and wordpress.com

Less than 1% users bother about TOS though companies have to bother for understandable reasons 🙂

If done, this will make the life much simpler for millions and can remove the hindrance to easy adoption of Jetpack. Thanks.

“That search icon is being generated by BuddyPress”

True, but other themes are not killing it! That search is visible in other themes. So Hueman needs some correction w.r.t this. Is there any github issue list for this? Thanks.

Thanks. I was posting in the forum to see if any one has any workaround or a line of code to help. I mentioned define(‘SUBDOMAIN_INSTALL’, false); in the beginning post.

There is no further discussion being done there, so no discussion to follow. I have bookmarked it though. Marking resolved is a serious drawback for us, because even if any ordinary member has some workaround to post, he will not be reading this post. Since the trac ticket is there for a long time without any resolution or activity on such a non-trivial issue it looks like it will remain like that.

So depending on some angel in the forum 🙂
But that road is also getting closed if marked resolved 🙁

    Thanks

    Thanks for replying.
This happens in any theme. I am using default Twenty-Fifteen.
Please follow the above steps to reproduce or ask me again to repeat/explain the steps.
Please be kind to have a look at https://core.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/20171
You can please help to submit a patch and push it into core (sorry, I am not a coder) before WP 4.2 final is released. It will be of huge benefit to many.

Thanks for your help in finally resolving this.

    Hi Broobe

This is WordPress Multisite, the users I am speaking of are individual site owners and role ‘administrators’
They can edit post in the normal way, so they should be able to use social articles too !

Have you any demo that uses the set-up described above? Thanks.

    (@rosyteddy)

Let the full name remain a required field.
Let it be filled by a hidden input (=username) for those sites who want it that way (? Some admin config)

Problem is (apart from those in that above ticket) non-geeky users who open accounts in wordpress only sites and also in wp-bp sites wonder/ask why “the name protocol” is different in the two.

    Thanks a lot R-a-y

    Hi c.bavota
    @c.bavota

This fix does show all the comments, but irrespective of whether “Show all…” has been clicked or not.

Thus if there are more than 5 comments (say, some 10 or 50 comments) other responsive themes like Mercury or Thaim will show just 5 comments and a “Show all….” link but Farben will show all the 10 or 50 comments at once.

Please test with FRESH installs of WP 4.1.1 and BP 2.2.1 with clean browser cache.

Thanks a lot. Looking forward for the fixed version.

    Hi Valuser Thanks again.
https://wordpress.org/support/topic/exclude-post-format-from-main-query?replies=3 appears to be useful at a glance. I will test it.

Its sad that they are retiring p2 but wordpress DEv blog runs on it.

Hi valuser, Thank you for the fast reply.

When there are no categories or tags, but just different tabs of the p2 input has been used [ Status | Blog | Quotes | Link ] what are the terms to be used in the above code?

    Thanks again.

BTW, does anyone from the p2 team visit these pages? I would like to suggest – Status | Blog | Quotes | Link – links in sidebar and option to set any one or any mix of these as Front page, available as options in the theme set-up to the site admin / site super admin.

    @mrmaz

What are the theme issues? It seems okay with all themes.
The problem is : no simpler input, for example like buddypress activity plus

The other problems are commenting and favoriting are not 2-way. Imho, these are not theme issues ? Or are they??

Thanks for your time and help.

    Testing more ……….. :

Comments made on the entry containing the link in the Activiy stream do not show up in the Links page
This means we cannot comment to an item both from the stream and the actual page – same about favouriting. Please see Buddypics – you cannot comment and favorite both ways – when BP favorit is there voting becomes redundant imho

    Thanks again.

Update – I have finally able to create a link. But ….
From the top nav or admin bar if you click Links > Create
You reach this page “http://www.yourwordpresssite/members/admin/links/create/” Here you do not get the form but get “Create” “Start over”

Now again you click on this “Create” to reach “http://www.yourwordpresssite/wpp/user-links/create/”
Here you get the form but if not all fields are filled up (too many fields) by overlooking or neglecting the user has to start all over again. It makes things complex imho. Please compare this with Buddypress Activity Plus or Facebook link posting. Many users will just not know they can post links if the option is not presented with or within the top text box in the activity page.

The other problem is that the page thumbnail becomes round in some or ??all themes – testing with Mercury (child theme of p2)

Another problem is thumbnails are not getting posted to the Buddypress activity stream.

    So 3 issues
    – Simpler input method merged with activity text box
    – web page thumbnails should remain rectangular irrespective of theme
    – buddypress river should show webpage thumbnails

I am testing with WP 4.1 and BP 2.2.1 – Network install with non-subdomains.

Thanks a lot for this nice plugin and you prompt helps.
