 * Thank you Jeremy, it was actually another plugin that was the problem. Thank
you! Its good to be reminded of the first steps to take before seeking help from
the forums, but in a weak moment without coffee we all make mistakes 🙂

 * I am having the same problem. I am getting this error displaying at the top of
my pages on the backend (WordPress dashboard) and frontend (my website). Sometimes
it is just above everything (as if it moves all content and everything down on
the page to insert itself above) and sometimes it just completely makes the page
go white and only shows this error message.
 * Warning: preg_match() expects parameter 2 to be string, array given in /home/
   rootedup/public_html/polibama.com/wp-includes/class-simplepie.php on line 1727
 * Are you suggesting saving the files to my computer through an FTP and then uploading
them again to my site? I will try this, but I am doubtful it is going to do anything.
   Any other ideas?

 * OK, I have done as instructed and discovered that when I had two specific plugins
active at the same time this was causing the issue.
 * Now however, I had added some new plugins and am getting the error again. I simply
can’t NOT use these plugins and I need some official WordPress support – some
techies who know the platform – to please help me get these errors to go away.
 * Please and thank you.

 * Well, I don’t have the SimplePie plugin, I understand from reading the description
page that it is an RSS and Atom feeder, but the only two plugins I am using for
that purpose is FeedWordPress and Strictly Auto Tags. I will try deleting and
re-installing them. But why would the Warning mention SimplePie if I do not have
it installed? Also, I did a search using the file manager from Hostgator (my
hosting company) and found many class-simplepie.php files, across several domains
I manage, I have never used the SimplePie plugin, and some of the sites where
I found the file never have even used RSS or Atom feeds…
 * What happens if class_simplepie.php is just a standard file that comes with WordPress
   or Thesis?

 * Sorry, Page Links to is built in to a Template I am using (my bad).
 * You can probably find a way to use custom fields to do this, or by using a theme
that has it built in, like “Mu” from the ThemeLoom.

 * [@jazbo](https://wordpress.org/support/users/jazbo/)
    If you have installed and
activated the plugin (Step 1) I also assume you read the instructions and viewed
the screen shots from the plugin’s website at [http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/the-events-calendar/screenshots/](http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/the-events-calendar/screenshots/)
 * The screenshot third from the bottom of that page indicates that you create an
event by creating a new post. Once you publish this event/post you should see
   it on your site somewhere.
 * [@aardvarkgirl](https://wordpress.org/support/users/aardvarkgirl/)
    Look in the
upper right of your WordPress dashboard for a “Screen Options” tab. Select all
the check boxes to display all options while creating a new post or editing existing
   ones.

 * Hi Ruhrgebiet,
 * 1. Install and activate the plugin.
    2. Create an event, and view the event on
your live website. 3. Copy the URL. Should look like: [http://yourdomain.com/category/events/upcoming](http://yourdomain.com/category/events/upcoming)
   4. Create a page, example: “Events” 5. Edit “Page Links To” with the URL you
copied. Save. 6. You’re done. Click on “Events” in your navigation bar of homepage.

 * @ supersnapp: I don’t know if your problem is the same as mine or not, but I
have resolved the problem I was experiencing.
 * First, being new to WordPress means that my mistake is probably common, yet I
still feel like an idiot for not knowing better.
 * The problem is that I was logging into my blog at rootedup.wordpress.com/wp-admin
and trying to select the themes I had uploaded to HostGator cPanel. This will
not EVER work, because the proper HTTP:// to go to is rootedup.com/wp-admin.
 * A slight difference, but one that makes all the difference! I can now login to
my correct admin and select the themes that have been there all along, I just
wasn’t going to the right place to see them.
 * *NOTE: You will also need to make sure that the Name Servers are the ones used
by your hosting provider. In my case, cokesburymargate.com does not have the
Name Servers for HostGator, therefore I cannot expect and edits to WordPress
to work, even if I install WordPress on the site in my cPanel using Fantastico
   Delux.
 * I hope all of this was helpful… I finally figured it out with a very helpful
tech rep from HostGator that chatted with after 1.5 hours.

 * I have tried two different methods:
 * 1: upload the zip file to HostGator file manager (into wp-content/themes folder)
then unzip. This has typically been the way I do it.
 * 2: I downloaded an FTP client and synced with my HostGator site/account and uploaded
the already zipped files into the wp-content/themes folder.
 * When done I go to my wordpress account dashboard and when looking under Appearances
   > Themes the only themes visible are the free ones that were created by the WP
community or whomever…. but my themes are nowhere to be seen.
 * I don’t think this is an FTP issue, something else is going on with wordpress.

 * I am uploading a .zip file to HostGator cPanel into the /themes folder, then
HostGator has an unzip feature that puts the theme there the way it should be.
 * I dont see any message about broken themes… I only see a library of assorted
free themes that I can use from WordPress.

 * nevermind, I’ve decided eShop is crap, and I’m using and liking WP-e-commerce
   much better.
