    Great feedback, thanks!

Only thing would like to have investigated is the fact that the images did not get inserted correctly. The one at the top of the original PDF is missing from both the post and the media library and the footer contains two copies of one image and is missing the third from the right image from the original pdf.

    Does this explanation make sense?

If not, I can make two printouts, scan them and attach to the contact form you previously sent the link to.

    Thanks for all your help!

Apologies for the late reply, went out for a while!

Tried the upgrade the plugin, ran into a permissions issue, probably on my side as it was a manual install starting with a blank Ubuntu image & building the LAMP stack then installing wordpress.

Once version two was installed I see the following:

    1) When first clicking New Post from PDF, this message appears at the top left corner:

    The security check failed

    2) I ignored that & uploaded a single PDF (the one that was in the zip file I sent earlier today) & got the following:

    File upload successful! /var/www/html/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/Meals-for-Montana-Funding-1-3.pdf
Go to new post : Meals-for-Montana-Funding-1-3

    3) New post is created and accessible via the Go to new post link above. There are two issues with the conversion:

3.1) Images are not correctly substituted / sized
3.2) Text formatting is not correct.

I published the page to: http://159.65.232.72/2018/02/26/meals-for-montana-funding-1-3/ so you can compare the original PDF with the generated page.

I figured it would be better to stop here & check / fix before moving on to the ZIP file test…

Please let me know if you have questions.

    Thanks!!!

Sorry about that! I thought I had done the installation steps properly but was guessing it was a mistake on my side… If there is any information (versions, etc.) that I can provide to help you troubleshoot please let me know. Happy to help, love this plugin’s functionality!!!

Here’s the larger picture of the project:

I’m helping Kimberley Motley put a database of world laws online.

I have a zip file that has a directory per country then inside each directory is a list of files that represent whatever law documentation is available.

In an ideal world PDF 2 POST would take open the master zip file, create a top level page per country that was blank, then add a sub-page per country where each page was the name of the file and the text on the page was the contents of the file.

This feels like a special use case so may not be part of your core product design / plan.

If so, I completely understand, just trying to see how much manual labor I can avoid via this awesome plugin.

If it doesn’t fit your plans, I’ll probably work on scripting something from the command line level, that just feels painful… 🙂

Happy to send the zip file, don’t see a way to attach via this UI?

    Send by email?

    Hmm, I don’t see a a log file there?

    /var/www/html/wp-content$ ls
    index.php plugins themes upgrade uploads

I’m probably doing something wrong, just not sure what it is?

    Thanks for the offer.

This is a much larger discussion, and one I’d like to have once I get past this first issue and can upload a single zip file with a PDF in it…

Does PDF to Post produce a log file that I can check to see what the problem is?

If not, what’s the best way to troubleshoot?

    Thanks!

    Thanks for the speedy reply!

I think the server installations are OK. Here’s what I see on the plugin page:

The following libraries NEED to be installed on your server :
    ZipArchive Ok
    PDFMiner
    Python
    Installed: 2.7.12 (default, Dec 4 2017, 14:50:18)
    pdfimages

I tested PDFMiner using the command line instructions in their installation guide. Not sure how to best test ZipArchive & pdfimages?

Happy to jump on a screen sharing session if that is easier for you.

Also, I have a zip file with hundreds of PDFs in it that is organized by directory. Is that something PDF 2 POST can handle?

    Thanks!!!

    Rob
