 * I had difficulties changing the permissions on the blogs.dir folder but got it
   done with the help of a tech at the ISP. Thanks for the help. That took care
   of the issue.
 * You’re good. Thanks.
 * Thumbs up.

 * OK, thanks. I’ll see if I can figure out how to do that.

 * I have the same issue with Swift. The sidebars do appear, though, if I click
   on the post header. After that they are fine unless one leaves the site and returns.
   Then you need to click on the post header again. Has this been resolved satisfactorily?

 * OK, things got fixed at this end. Images can get uploaded.
 * Thanks for the help and for the good suggestion to try accessing the url directly
   first. That’s a good way to check the image and the path to it.
 * Now I can get to figuring out the other 999,000 things to do. 🙂

 * There’s no box to upload the image directly. On WordPress.com, that is the case
   but not with WP3. It would be wonderful if there was but…
 * The image is uploaded to my site at the location I mentioned above.
 * I’m working with my ISP tech support to see if there’s a problem at their end.
   I’ll let you know how that goes.

 * OK, I found ‘Network Admin’ up on the right. That puts me into the right area.
   Thanks for your help. That is almost too simple. I’m sure I’ll have other questions
   later on.

 * Thanks for the reply. The single quotes are only because I copied that line from
   a Word file to post here. I only have one single quote on my keyboard and in
   Wordpad, it is correct. That puts it in correctly when I edit the files.
 * When I add the code as shown, the ‘network’ option disappears and no ‘NETWORK
   ADMIN’ shows up on the list, either as a new menu item or under any other item.
   Neither does it appear anywhere on the dashboard that I can find. There must
   be something else going on.
 * Instead of adding that line,
    define(‘WP_ALLOW_MULTISITE’, true); is there something
   else I should add?

 * Also, I forgot to mention that I created the blogs.dir directory as instructed.
