Like that individual, gifs work for me as well (the issue is with jpg’s (the http error).
Hopefully, it just begins working like it did for him. 😀
I’m certain hot link protection is not configured. As for the other options you’ve mentioned, I’m at a lost (I’m not that technical).
Well when you have a 501c3 charity, you don’t have the disposable income that many have. I’ll likely look for another sharing plugin if they cannot be retrieved ONE time without cost.

Save again without adding anything
Try publishing another post
Are you still seeing the emoji on Facebook or code?
