 * Thanks so much dohman! I had seen other topics also indicating a disc space shortage,
   but the hosting firm said no, it wasn’t on their end. When I got your post, I
   went back to the hosting company and was a lot more forceful about it. They dug
   around and in my case, found that it turns out that there was an error in a RewriteRule
   in the .htaccess file of my primary domain. It should have looked like this:
   
   RewriteRule ^.*\.(jpg|jpeg|gif|png|bmp) /wp-content/plugins/wp-retina-2x/wr2x_image.
   php [QSA,L]
 * I did not realize that the .htaccess file of the primary domain could impact 
   a subdomain. Learned something today.
