 * PS I know this is an oldish topic but it’s what I kept running into in my search
   when I was trying to convert so I thought this might help others. I used this
   script and it worked flawlessly.
 * If you want to import users as well there’s a separate plug-in for that (do a
   search it’s easily found!)

 * Yep, that link is brilliant. I moved 100s of articles out of joomla using it 
   with no problems at all. The beauty is that once you get the content out of Joomla
   and into a better system like WordPress you can move it anywhere you like (almost).
 * The only problem is it doesnt migrate your members or anything in the mods like
   guestbook entries or comments. But small price to pay for freeing yourself from
   Joomla IMO!!
 * There is a nice plug-in for importing usernames and emails tho

 * But it will email your members a new password.
