In reply to: Default wordpress forum user image (avatar)One final suggestion regarding the default image itself, just to square the above problem-solving cycle for good:
Upon creation of a WordPress.org profile account, the server would read the avatar presets on the user’s installation, and depending on what the user has configured at his/her module (website) level, could either:
– take over by default the avatar image provided by the user, for profiling and/or forum purposes,
– or select by default a better-looking (logotypical) profile image reflecting the user’s role and capabilities (Contributor, Author, Editor, Admin, Super Admin).Regards,

In reply to: Default wordpress forum user image (avatar)This is a “FYI” suggestion pertaining to the way I see it at admin level, not really a support request per se.

In reply to: Default wordpress forum user image (avatar)Meaning?
Forum: Requests and Feedback
In reply to: Default wordpress forum user image (avatar)Hi,
According to my understanding of WordPress.org (as an user of an OVH-hosted multisite installation of six modules), it takes three different email accounts (instead of two) to solve the above spectrum of issues:
At module level:
1. A (core) admin email account (available),
2. A (core) contact email account (available),
3. + A (core) avatar email account (missing),…which would make both the WordPress.org and forum profiles supported by a standalone email account connected to the user’s installation through the module’s avatar settings (3) without third-party plugin compromission (either way).
Again, thanks for considering.

In reply to: Default wordpress forum user image (avatar)Hi,
There was nothing inflammatory intended about providing a link to the search engine results page for the query “Is Gravatar a safety risk?”, and my point was precisely TO NOT make it a Gravatar issue, otherwise I would have posted my justified opinion directly through http://en.gravatar.com/support/contact-us/!
My point was to raise the issue of how user-unfriendly the default avatar images look by default, which by possibly deterring quality-oriented users like me from using the forum, doesn’t help to fix WordPress at all…so where is the place to address that issue if not here.
I’m sorry but your answer was not appropriate. Ticket closed.
Thanks for considering.

I’m afraid I’ll have to share the beer with my customer advocate!
Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: WP error message > error:14090086:SSLHi Mat,
I just solved the problem by phone with my support desk, which confirmed that the problem is due to the environment of execution declared by default next to the PHP settings on the user’s OVH dashboard:
Try the following:
– log in to your OVH admin dashboard,
– on the left admin bar, go to your hosting plans,
– select the domain name affected by the issue,
– next to the PHP settings (if the latter are set to v7.0), click the button which enables to modify the configuration,
– if your declared environment is set to « legacy », switch it over to « stable »,
– confirm the modification,
– log in to your WordPress module and perform all pending updates. My customer advocate further confirmed upon request that this SSL error message is of the generic type, and that the above problem resolution can therefore be transmitted to the WordPress forums.
Regards,
Daniela

In reply to: Feature request > Theme selection featuresHi Andrew,
To me it is more a core issue, since it is about optimizing my user experience with the WordPress Feature Filter in terms of search time:
https://wordpress.org/themes/It is not about fixing a specific theme in particular, it is about enabling me to quickly retrieve all themes best suited for a specific purpose.

In reply to: Feature request > Theme selection featuresHi James, thanks for your reply.
I was rather thinking about the number of menus which can be made visible through the theme template itself. If a theme enables only two menus, I will still be able to use the core features to create as many as I want, but will be seriously limited at front-end level.
