In reply to: Custom Query help needed!I was able to solve this problem by replacing the query item:
‘post_image’=>true
with
‘meta_key’ => ‘_thumbnail_id’
Not sure if it’s right, but it worked for me.

In reply to: Custom Query help needed!Thanks rdlucas2, but this isn’t for the post itself, this query pulls a list of related posts into a div at the end of the current post (on a single post page), which is why the filter needs to happen within the new query.

In reply to: Need HELP writing a category classes if statementAlmost ESMI, the key problem here is that I need to check to see if the post category is IN or a CHILD of the woo_photography_cateogry so that all the child photography categories are treated just like the parent… any thoughts on how I’d modify for that?
Tanks so much for the help!

In reply to: Help writing a custom theme functionOk, I’ve got this started, but for some reason the logic isn’t working and I can’t figure out why… can anyone see where I’ve gone wrong here? the options are set correctly through the admin panel and have been tested successfully.
$mycat = 'post'; $photocat = get_option('my_photography_category'); $quotecat = get_option('my_quotation_category'); $quotecatID = get_cat_ID( $quotecat ); if (get_categories('child_of => $photocat', TRUE)) { $mycat = 'photograph'; } if (in_category($quotecatID)) { $mycat = 'quote'; }
Also, I’d love a way to do this in the functions.php file so that all I have to do is call $mycat and it’d post the correct content.

In reply to: Help writing a custom theme functionThanks esmi, was hoping for a little more than a codex reference, but I’ll do some digging in that direction and see if I can find some code to repurpose…

In reply to: Query mod broken in WP 3.1Thanks lpstenu. In the Trac Ticket link I found a solution, posted below for anyone with similar issues.
<?php function exclude_category($query) { if ( $query->is_home ) { $query->set('category__not_in', array(1,11,12,4,23,24)); } return $query; } add_filter('pre_get_posts', 'exclude_category'); ?>

Hopefully all my searching can help somebody else.

In reply to: Post-Thumbnail Hard Crop IssueI can’t imagine that this is that uncommon, maybe everyone else just gives up and crops their images before upload. I’ve hired a programmer to figure it out and will post the solution when we find one.

Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Post-Thumbnail Hard Crop IssueOr maybe there’s a function/mode in php itself that needs to be turned on for cropping to occur? I’m stabbing in the dark here… help! or is this a GD or AJAX thing? How is WP doing the cropping?
