 * Still haven’t heard anything back on this, despite emailing [support@topsy.com](https://wordpress.org/support/users/popstat/replies/support@topsy.com?output_format=md).
And now suddenly, the “ignore tweet” list doesn’t seem to work, as it’s letting
through tweet-trackbacks of usernames that I’ve explicitly excluded in the Settings.
Deactivating this plugin until a version fix is released…

 * Confirmed that switching Timezone setting to UTC time provides the workaround
for this bug. I guess next step, if they don’t want to truly fix, is to eliminate
   the cities drop-down list.

 * I’ve got the same errors going on with WP’s built-in calendar. Please fix.

 * Try this to implement the built-in pop-up commenting in basic WP; it’s usually
   ignored in most templates:

 * Thank you for that Otto, I appreciate being pointed in the right direction. However,
that doesn’t absolve the Akismet devs from communicating their changes on the
actual plugin page, or at Akismet.com, or somewhere else obvious — why should
users have to dig for this basic info? Not everyone is comfortable looking at
   techie logs.

 * This is spam, of course. It’s basically [a spamming false-positive technique called “poisoning the well”](http://dougal.gunters.org/blog/2005/12/06/poisoning-the-well).
Marking these as spam will teach Akismet to start blocking them in short order.
If they bother you that much in the meantime, you can always block that IP address(
   94.102.60) in your Settings.

 * Still no excuse for providing not even bare-bones documentation — that’s sheer
laziness. If you want to risk installing and then dealing with something breaking(
which happens all too often with plugin upgrades), be my guest. If it’s some
minor tweak that’s not going to make any difference, then I’ll pass. The version
of Akismet I’ve got running is running fine, so it’ll take something compelling
for me to mess with it.
 * And lo and behold, I see that 2.2.3 has just been released — again, without a
peep as to what’s been changed.

 * Anyone want to answer this? Releasing these sub-versions with accompanying silence
is truly obnoxious. I’m not going to blindly upgrade without knowing what I’m
   installing.

 * Gee, WP developers being rude? That’s a first [/sarcasm]. And I see that Akismet
v2.1.5 was just let loose, I’m going to assume that this fix is the only thing
that’s been changed, so I won’t be bothering with the upgrade there. Thanks again

 * I can confirm this same problem. I recently upgraded from WP 2.1.3 to WP 2.5.
You can’t page-forward (or back) beyond the first page of 50 caught spams. I’m
showing Akismet plugin version 2.1.4 running, which I believe was auto-updated
right after I installed the WP upgrade; furthermore, I don’t see a more recent
   version on Akismet.com.
 * Any recommendations? I get enough daily spam that I need to check at least 2-
3 pages beyond the first page.

 * I’d love to get a plugin that restores the “days” option for the what_to_show
attribute, instead of limiting it to just number of posts:
 * [http://wordpress.org/support/topic/105812](http://wordpress.org/support/topic/105812)
 * Don’t know why WP devs decided to disable it for 2.1, but I much prefer my blog’s
front page to default to that output.

 * I want the days option for what_to_show in Blog Pages reading Option, as well.
 * Why was it removed in the first place? I can see where it was whacked:
 * [http://trac.wordpress.org/changeset/1500](http://trac.wordpress.org/changeset/1500)
 * Is there a hack or plugin I can use to bring the effect back? I write multiple/
variable number of posts per day, a “Show at Most” option based on number of
   posts is useless to me.

 * Another thing you could try: [AdSense section targeting](http://www.populationstatistic.com/archives/2006/01/16/adsense-section-targeting/).
You can add tags that (supposedly) draw the AdSense bot to specific content areas,
and away from others. So you could weight=ignore to things like your sidebar,
and weighted tags to the post areas.
 * I implemented it a couple of months ago, and while I still get the “start blogging”
ads, it’s not as acute as it used to be.
