 * I accidentally found a solution!
    I will post it here just in case someone else
   encounters this.
 * In settings -> reading I had the “Front page displays” option set to a static
   page (my front page, which is empty). After I changed this setting to “Your latest
   posts”, everything is working!

 * Hi,
    thank you for the answer. I tried disabling plugins one by one and also 
   disabling all, I also tried all the standard permalinks (with disabled plugins).
   That made me fix a problem with permalinks (I didn’t have the .htaccess file),
   but unfortunately it did not solve my problem. Do you have any other suggestions?
