In reply to: [Subtitles] not bad?Hi. Nope, it shouldn’t be bad for SEO. The output is contained within your entry title’s H1 tag, and if you’d like to adjust it, you certainly can.
This is what I’ve written directly inside of the developer notes about SEO:
* 5. The reason that <spans> are being used is because HTML does not have a dedicated mechanism for * marking up subheadings, alternative titles, or taglines. There are suggested alternatives from * the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C); among them are spans, which work well for what we're trying * to do with titles in WordPress. See the linked documentation for more information. * @link http://www.w3.org/html/wg/drafts/html/master/common-idioms.html#sub-head
Hope that helps. See the W3C for more information.

In reply to: [P2] Commenting not possible on attachmentsHi Eric. Thanks a ton for bringing this to our attention and for the GitHub suggestion (pull requests FTW). I’ve Trac’d this bug and we’ll look into getting it sorted out for you soon.
Not every WordPress theme gives you the ability to modify your website’s header from within the Dashboard. Which theme do you happen to be using at the moment?

In reply to: Trouble changing theme from current Atahualpa ThemeIf you don’t see an Appearance → Themes tab in your WordPress Dashboard then this most likely means that you do not have sufficient privileges to view that section of your Dashboard. You may want to ask the previous blog owner for Administrator details so that you’re able to log in and change your theme.
Howdy. Theme files, which are mostly made of CSS, HTML, JS, and PHP files are all packaged into files called ZIP files. Every theme you download on WordPress.org is packaged as a theme file (ZIP), which you then upload under Appearance → Themes. So think of a ZIP file as a big folder full of stuff (your theme’s files), which you upload and let WordPress handle for you.

In reply to: Site TitleScreenshots don’t help, I’m afraid, because there’s no way to debug them like live code. That said, if all you have is a screenshot then that’s better than nothing.

In reply to: Background not displaying in postsOn the website that’s working the author is using the following CSS rule:
.page-id-54 .post { background: url( '../images/content.png' ) repeat 0 0; }
No such rule will work on the site that’s not working (the one you linked) because the page ID may be different on your blog, and you have no automatically generated body classes.
You could try using
.blog .post
as your selectors but I’m not sure if that have negative site-wide effects on your blog.Forum: Themes and Templates

In reply to: WordPress 3.2 Images Show Weird Query String?Coming in on this super late but if you’re using W3 Total Cache that may be the culprit. There’s a setting under Browser Cache → General that says Prevent caching of objects after settings change → Whenever settings are changed, a new query string will be generated and appended to objects allowing the new policy to be applied. Disable that (if you’re using the plugin) and those query strings will be dropped on static resources like .jpg and .png files.
Hi FD. There’s one more problem. On lines 129-131 you have the following code:
if ($linksingle) $singleurl = get_permalink(); $content = str_replace($fn, "<sup class='footnote'><a href='$singleurl#fn-$post_id-$n' id='fnref-$post_id-$n' onclick='return fdfootnote_show($post_id)'>$n</a></sup>", $content);
This causes an
Undefined variable: singleurl
when$linksingle
evaluates tofalse
. The following code fixes this issue for me:if ( isset ( $singleurl ) ) $content = str_replace($fn, "<sup class='footnote'><a href='$singleurl#fn-$post_id-$n' id='fnref-$post_id-$n' onclick='return fdfootnote_show($post_id)'>$n</a></sup>", $content); else $content = str_replace($fn, "<sup class='footnote'><a href='#fn-$post_id-$n' id='fnref-$post_id-$n' onclick='return fdfootnote_show($post_id)'>$n</a></sup>", $content);
There may be a better way to do this (like checking if
$singleurl
is set before this part of the code, but this works well for me. Thanks again for the nice plugin.Forum: Installing WordPress
In reply to: Cannot Update to 3.2 on Media Temple!For other Media Temple users, just give them a call. They are familiar with the problem and will take care of it. It took around 10 minutes for the call and I was told to expect an upgrade within the next several hours (although I’ve seen others report faster results).
