 * Thank you again – yes this sorts the problem perfectly !
 * Dragging and dropping is not allowed though. Is this a current restriction in
Event Manager (if so would it be sorted in the Pro version ?) or is there another
   setting I’ve missed ? Thanks.

 * Thanks caiman. Yes the setting Events > Settings > Pages > Event List/Archives
   is checked.
 * This just shows the default calendar – please see…

 * Thank you CrouchingBruin, not only for solving my problem but also for the detailed
explanation – I’m afraid I was so excited that the code to remove the search
box worked that I forgot that where you place code in a css file has an effect
on how it works with other conflicting rules. Thanks again.

 * Role Scoper will do what I want.
 * It seems you need to set up anyone who you want to create pages as an Editor
and then lock them out of all the pages that you don’t want them to edit or add
sub-pages to. There may be other ways of doing it – this plug-in has quite a
lot of settings and I’m certainly not a Role Scoper or WordPress role expert.
Joomla would do it rather easier I think but then Joomla core doesn’t give you
   true blogs.

 * Thanks. Role-Scoper appears to do exactly what I want. I’ve also looked at the
roles and capabilities reference. Thanks very much.
