 * I installed 2.1.72. I restarted WordPress. I went to [https://www.imnewswatch.com/wp-admin/admin.php?page=atec_wpca](https://www.imnewswatch.com/wp-admin/admin.php?page=atec_wpca)
There I see “Object Cache is inactive.” so I click the slider to turn it on and
   click “Save”
 * Then, I get the error message “The cache settings are inconsistent (KEY_SALT
is not defined), please click save to run the self-fix routine.” so I click Save
   again.
 * WordPress gives me the error “There has been a critical error on this website.
Please check your site admin email inbox for instructions. If you continue to
have problems, please try the [support forums](https://wordpress.org/support/forums/).”

The error isn’t as critical as WP says, apparently because I can back out of
it and proceed as if nothing happened. As long as I don’t try to activate the
object cache, I can do any back end work I need to to.

 * I installed 2.1.59, then I followed your directions. The settings were saved.
But also, an error message was displayed:
   “The Cache settings are inconsistent,
   please save again.”
 * I saved again, but the message is still present. What do I try now?

 * I am myself locked out (i.e., my IP address is blocked). It happened while I
was setting up Wordfence. I was pasting text into the text block for the error
message to display when it blocks someone. I did CTRL-V and I got the message:
Your access to this site has been temporarily limited by the site owner.
 * I was blocked yesterday for an unknown reason. My assistant deactivated WF, so
today I was able to login and try to activate and set up WF again, only to be
   blocked, as described above, again.
 * How to correct this issue and avoid a recurrence?
 * I’m trying to make this a new thread, but I’m a novice and I may be piggybacking
on the similar thread already open.

 * The URL I mention in the header of the post is an example or an existing page
using redirection for the links on the page. Yesterday these links went to an
   off-site URL,
 * Today, they go nowhere beyond the redirecting URL on my site.

 * Thank you for your generous support.
 * I am not seeing any error.
 * I wonder if this may be the source of your problem. We use Cloudflare to serve
our pages. I don’t know your location, but based on your country location, you
may be connecting through a Cloudflare server in a country that we blocked due
   to concerns about hacking.
 * What may be helpful is to go to a proxy server and from there, type in our url.
 * [https://www.lifewire.com/free-anonymous-web-proxy-servers-818058](https://www.lifewire.com/free-anonymous-web-proxy-servers-818058)
   lists 9 free proxy servers.
 * I tried them all. One that worked correctly for me was [https://www.megaproxy.com/freesurf/](https://www.megaproxy.com/freesurf/)
 * Some of the others made the primary menu 6 inches tall, but if you scroll you
will see the secondary menu where I placed the search button. One didn’t support
   https, waas useless.

 * I have a very similar problem. In my case, the box and button are about 1 millimeter
larger than the menu bar, and so, while they are mostly aligned, they extend
below the bar. Is there css that would shrink them about 10%? That would solve
   the problem, I think.
 * One other appearance improvement, I think, would be to have the search right-
aligned, rather than aligned with the last menu item.
 * [https://imnewswatch.com/](https://imnewswatch.com/) shows the current appearance.

 * I found the RSS input. Unfortunately, I had 5 duplicate posts. So I deleted the
   duplicates, and deactivated the plugin.
 * Will the plugin do what I need? That is, can I place a list of the , say 5, most
recent posts on a page in the blog?
 * Thanks,
    Phil

 * I had a similar experience today, when I installed and ran the plugin. It seemed
to delete revisions successfully. I etimate that at least 25,000-50,000 revisions
were deleted. I have 85,000 posts, many with 3-10 revisions.
 * When I ran it a 2nd time, it reported that there was nothing to delete, so the
first pass seems to have succeeded in deleting all my old data.
 * But the plugin only reports having deleted 0.7 KB (that is 700 bytes) which is
normally just 2-3 posts worth of data. And it reports 4024.924 MB as the database
size both before and after optimization
 * So, I agree there seems to be a reporting problem. BTW, I’m running WP 3.6 and
   MySQL version 5.1.70-cll

 * Occasionally, once a week or so, w3tc stops updating the cache. It shows data
a day or two old on my home page, rather than picking up the more recent posts.
 * When this happens, I tell it to empty the caches, but it usually churns and churns,
never finishing the emptying process (I have waited 30-45 minutes). At that point,
I deactivate it and reactivate it. This seems to resolve the problem, and for
several days all is well. But then it happens again.
 * It has happened for me for 6-8 months, so it occurred both before and after the
   most recent update.
 * Anyone else had this problem? Have you found any permanent cure? Or a less time-
intensive way to clear the cache? For example, does deleting a particular file(
wherever the cache is held) effectively clear the cache and force w3tc to recreate
the file to start caching again?

 * WordPress.org doesn’t has data on compatibility of Torbit with WP 3.4.2. Can
the company fill in that gap? Is it compatible? Also, in an earlier post, the
company says it is working on alerts. Are they available yet?
